JOB PURPOSE To perform and interpret a range of specialist genetic tests, both routine and complex. JOB DIMENSIONS The Leeds Genetics Laboratory at St Jamess University Hospital provides a diagnostic laboratory service to the population of Yorkshire and Humber. Specialist diagnostic genetic services are provided at a national and international level. The service is provided by over 70 staff, consisting of Heathcare Scientists, Healthcare Science Practitioners, Assistants and administrative staff. The laboratory processes over 25,000 genetics samples per year, and generates around 20,000 reports, many of which are highly complex. The postholder will lead one of the specialist technical areas within the laboratory, managing a team of between 5-8 technical staff to perform, analyse and interpret a range of genetic tests, both routine and complex. They would be responsible for overseeing the workload of the team, planning rotas and making adjustments according to clinical priorities. They will develop policies within their area and ensure documentation and records in their area updated and compliant with accreditation requirements (UKAS). Responsible as line manager for the Healthcare Science Practitioners and Healthcare Science Assistants both within and outside their team. This position is suitable for a confident presenter who can communicate, read, write, and present scientific information, preferably in both English and Mandarin. The aspiring candidate should be able to demonstrate his/her expertise in nutrition science and/or human physiology. The successful candidate will report directly to and assist the Asia Pacific Science Director. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

· Plan and prepare product presentations for FitLine nutrition supplements in English and Mandarin.

· Represent PM-International as a presenter at product training presentations. The training sessions may be targeted at team partners, customers, or a general audience.

· Support product development work for PM International by assessing the scientific literature, competitive landscape, nutrient function claims and traditional knowledge.

· Assist in PM-International’s research projects based in the Asia Pacific region. Research projects may include internal focus group studies and external scientific collaborations with universities and research institutes.

· Channelling and/or responding to product queries across the Asia Pacific region.

· Ad hoc scientific projects will be assigned to meet our rapidly changing business needs.

Suitable candidates can develop life skills that are important for career development, such as effective presentation skills in English and Mandarin, quick-thinking on his/her feet, and a first-hand perspective of nutrition product development and product management in the fast-growing nutritional supplements category. What you'll do

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in the Oncology Team is an ambassador for AstraZeneca's Oncology portfolio, engaging in scientific exchange with Key External Experts, Health Care Professionals, and Clinical Investigators. Oncology MSLs engage with external experts to identify medical unmet needs and evidence gaps in our product portfolio and gain insight. They deliver presentations in a non-promotional scientific context as determined by global/local oncology medical affairs plans and assist in the setting up of key studies.

Some Key Responsibilities:

• To act as regional field medical affairs expert

• To share knowledge and insight with cross-functional colleagues through a centralised insight-gathering process

• To provide technical input into brand/medical activities.

• To support research discussions with clinical leaders in a dedicated region

• Engage in account level cross-functional working with sales and market access colleagues within the boundaries laid down by the ABPI code of practise and the relevant AZ standard operating procedures - remain up to date on ABPI changes

• Remain up-to-date on therapy advances, product development plans, competitor developments and trials, AZ products and trial data

• Patient pathway redesign

• Maintain an understanding of local health economy and how that interacts with the patient pathways relevant to their therapy area

• Essential for this role

• Previous experience working within an MSL role within Pharma (Ideally within Oncology or NHS Cancer experience)

• Life sciences degree or other appropriate qualification (e.g. nursing, pharmacy)

THE POSITION

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will support the strategic scientific direction of Boehringer Ingelheim with the provision of clinical and scientific information/data to health professionals via scientific exchanges/presentations, primarily with defined External Experts (EEs) in the Metabolism therapeutic area in BI Singapore.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for identification and engagement for external experts through credible and accurate medical/scientific exchange and appropriately document the scientific exchanges
• Responsible for execution of advocacy development plans and support execution of medical activities to address EE needs in collaboration with cross functional team
• Proactively share the continuous knowledge/insights gained from EEs on brand, competitor, disease state and overall therapeutic area with the brand team
• Provides scientific expertise on product and disease state knowledge to HCPs through data presentations or in response to medical information queries
• Responsible for the identification of opportunities for potential external research collaboration and to facilitate the interaction between BI and HCPs in the context of research of investigational compounds or marketed products

REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in Health Sciences, Medical and Pharmacy disciplines is required
• MSL or Medical Affairs experience in the pharmaceutical industry would be preferred
• Specific experience in diabetes, heart failure and/or chronic kidney disease would be an advantage
• Strong presentation, communication, and written skills, for large audience and 1:1 setting
