Job Scope:

Leading a team of Workplace Safety & Health Staff, the incumbent is overall responsible for the functions of the organizations EHS Team and the effective implementation of the Organizations SHMS within all departments and

Key Performance Outcome Measurements

· Responsible for the scheduling and delivery of timelines integrated within the Organization’s SHMS;

· Effective deployment of EHS personnel within the Organization;

· Review of outgoing EHS documentation to external agencies;

· Monitor EHS inventories;

· Monitoring and analysing CAPA request submissions;

· Monitor development of Organization’s internal EHS training plan for purpose of continual improvement;

· Monitor the assessment of shortlisting suppliers/vendors engaged by the Organization;

Main Duties and Responsibilities

· Plans, organizes and manages the activities of EHS function to fulfil the requirements set out in the Organizations SHMS;

Qualification

Key Responsibilities Provide support for the Mental Health team with adherence to risk management and assurance standards. Here at Serco, we’re looking for a Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Manager to join our team as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on our Asylum Accommodation and Support Contracts (AASC), where we offer a range of improvements, with particular focus on assisting individuals through the asylum system.

You will provide high quality, competent and specialist HS&E support to the site deliver a service in accordance with our Service level Agreement.

Working alongside others HS&E team members, providing regulatory guidance and functional leadership in the selected part of the business, supporting it to achieve improvements in performance, leading industry sector best practice forums, enhancing our reputation and ensuring HS&E compliance with both Serco Group, Divisional and key regulatory requirements.

What you’ll need to do the role

First and foremost, a real passion and desire for Health & Safety. You should belong to a related professional organisation at an appropriate level
- the preferred level being graduate or chartered member of IOSH (or equivalent), and have experience in operating within regulated workplace environments and have an appropriate qualification in Fire Risk Assessment / Management.
You should be maintaining CPD or working towards this.

- Provide Contract Management and Operational Managers with timely and appropriate management information and reports on relevant HS&E activities.
- Monitor performance, prompt local action, and encourage the delivery of strategic objectives and targets.
- Ensure that all incidents, accidents and other HS&E data and information is entered on relevant enterprise applications. All information to be timely entered and accurate in accordance with agreed reporting procedures.

- Support or lead accident/Incident investigations as required.
- Assist, support and help to maintain essential contract compliance documentation and ISO certification and co-ordinate compliance audits (undertaken by others) on nominated sites as per the agreed risk based audit plan to ensure compliance to regulatory and other requirements.

This list of duties and responsibilities, which follows, represents the broad range of tasks which may be required to be undertaken either routinely or periodically. This list is not exhaustive, and the role may include additional duties which are not listed here. Staff Management Provide mentorship and guidance for trainee dispensary staff, apprentices and students. Overseeing the Dispensary teams annual leave, liaising with the Practice Manager where appropriate. Line manages the dispensary staff in accordance with current practice policy. Ensure team members complete significant event forms correctly and in a timely manner. Being an expert in all aspects of the clinical system and be able to train other team members, in the best use of the system. To be responsible for the effective line management, appraisal, and development of dispensary staff Carry out appraisals and identify training needs based on competencies required for the DSQS. To oversee training of new Dispensers. To lead the team of Dispensers and organise a weekly rota or deputise the latter as required. To take responsibility for developing their own clinical competence, leadership, and reflective practice skills within the workplace Arrange staff meetings and / or training, as required. Purchasing and Stock Control Ensuring that all returned controlled drugs are disposed of and recorded correctly. Responsible for maintaining efficient, cost-effective stock control, minimising wastage through out-of-date stock. In conjunction with the Medicines Manager ensure controlled drugs are dispensed with in accordance with practice policy. To be responsible for the commercial buying of drugs and Surgery sundries for the Practice. To maintain cost effective supplies of those drugs that are purchased centrally on behalf of the Practice. To devise and explain to each Dispenser the mechanisms for ordering from the central supplies. To complete the annual DSQS as required with the Medicines Manager. Reconcile invoices. Ensure prescriptions are collated, endorsed, and submitted to NHSBA each month and associated analysis. Dispensary Management With the Medicines Manager review the latest guidance, ensuring the dispensary conforms to NICE, CQC, etc. guidance. To liaise with the Lead GP and Medicines Manager for Dispensing over formularies. Ensure SOPs are in place and reviewed on at least an annual basis. To act as Health & Safety Committee Representative for the Dispensary. Partake in audits as directed by the audit lead. To ensure and maintain effective distribution of dispensing supplies to the Surgery. To focus efforts to the maximum benefit of the Practice with respect to the policy decisions made from time to time by the Practice.
