In addition to primary team duties, the Team Trainer supports high engagement, productivity, and retention of New Members by organizing and delivering quality training on their home team. Team Trainers work in partnership with Team Leadership, their location’s Store Trainer, Team Member Services Generalists, and other qualified Team Members. The Team Trainer supports the high-quality, timely completion of New Member Connections for New Members, and supports Global, Regional, and department-specific training, including Operational Learning Pathways, Compliance, Occupational Safety, Food Safety, Product Knowledge, and Customer Service. The Edible Education Programs Leader at Whole Foods Market will help lead innovation and strategic growth toward accomplishing the mission of WK through our edible programs. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Program Management
  • Collaborate on and support planning and execution of growth and development of WK’s edible programs in the U.S., U.K., and Canada
  • Includes overseeing and evolving existing edible grant programs and the development and revision of curriculum and training in order to produce a robust portfolio of culturally inclusive programs
  • Develop plans to meet established goals for projects according to timelines and key deadlines and facilitating collaboration with cross-functional teams. Support other day-today administration tasks in support of the WK’s operations
• Grant Administration
  • Coordinate, implement, and maintain a range of programs and activities through the life cycle of grants, alongside WK Programs Team (Director, Program Specialist, and Interns).
  • Support grant implementation in coordination with team members as needed for multiple large grant cycles during the year (e.g. Garden and Bee Grant programs).
  • Provide guidance and mentorship on overall grant flow processes and technical assistance on specific grant guidelines as needed, while administering select key components of the grant cycles such as payment oversight
  • This position may provide grant administration support to Whole Cities and Whole Planet programs
• Communications
  • Guide strategic storytelling of our edible work and develop relationships and consistent communication with all internal and external stakeholders, including Board, Communications team, Revenue team, and Whole Foods Market
• Finance Management and Reporting
  • Provide support to WK Senior Programs Director in planning programmatic budget and in analysis and reporting to ensure WK grantmaking meets established strategic goals
  • Support with data collection and reporting to effectively communicate WK Impact
  • Manage, evaluate, and communicate financial insights for an annual multi-million-dollar program investment budget
• Other
  • Provide leadership and directional support that furthers our commitment to an equitable and inclusive organizational culture and supports a growing programmatic team
  • Engage in team culture, supporting off-site events and projects
  • Other programmatic, project and operational duties, as needed

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

• Passion for the mission of Whole Kids and an understanding of and deep connection with Whole Foods Market Core Values
• A ‘think-big’ mentality, strategic thinker with experience developing, operationalizing, and evaluating innovative comprehensive programs while taking initiative and independently identifying solutions

• Proven relationship builder with ability to earn trust with diverse of stakeholders and a deep respect and regard for the inherent strengths and capacities within every community

• 5+ years of program leadership experience and a strong working knowledge of edible education and current developments in fields of child nutrition, food justice, and education
• 3+ years of experience in a team management role managing individuals including direct reports, both local and remote, full-time and contract
• A proven understanding and ongoing commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once in a collaborative environment where every role includes a full range of responsibilities from hands-on to strategic
• Commitment to sharing power and leadership to drive programmatic outcomes, including measuring success by growth, connection, engagement, and development

Additional Job Requirements

This position is based in Austin, Texas at the Whole Foods Market Global Headquarters. We work a 40-hour week and workdays are typically Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, with occasional weekend and evening hours for events. Currently, we offer a hybrid work-from home option with majority in-person office time expected.  Semi-frequent travel with programmatic partners is required up to 30%. Cover letter preferred.

Job Description

In addition to primary team duties, the Team Trainer supports high engagement, productivity, and retention of New Members by organizing and delivering quality training on their home team. Team Trainers work in partnership with Team Leadership, their location’s Store Trainer, Team Member Services Generalists, and other qualified Team Members. The Team Trainer supports the high-quality, timely completion of New Member Connections for New Members, and supports Global, Regional, and department-specific training, including Operational Learning Pathways, Compliance, Occupational Safety, Food Safety, Product Knowledge, and Customer Service. Acts as a role model, maintaining a positive image and providing customer-obsessed service.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

DUTIES APPLYING TO TEAM TRAINER

• Ensures new and ongoing store and team training programs are successfully delivered and completed.
• Works within training deadlines and goals.
• Coordinates with Team Leaders and the Store Trainer to schedule New Member training during their first four shifts.
• Coordinates with New Members, Team Leadership, and the Store Trainer on the timely completion of New Member Connections, regularly communicating status toward completion.
• Facilitates team-specific operational training for Team Members, including team Operational Learning Pathways and team-specific program rollouts.
• Attends Team Trainer meetings, as scheduled.  
• Acts as a role model for constant food safety, sanitation procedures, and occupational safety.
• Trains all Team Members on customer service standards and looks for opportunities to provide timely feedback.
• Trains all Team Members on new products, their differentiation, sales tactics, and department placement.
• Consistently practices and models proper care, use, and maintenance of all team equipment and PPE.
• Completes the Team Trainer Operational Learning Pathway, Team Trainer Certification, and other assigned training.
• Familiarizes themselves with the Store Training Roles Handbook and maintains engagement with all communication platforms.
• Organizes, tracks, reports, and maintains accurate training records using Whole Foods Market’s learning systems.

EXPERIENCE

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
• Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation pushing, and pulling.
• Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
• Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
• Exposure to temperatures: less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezers), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), greater than 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Ability to work in wet and/or cold environments.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
