Qualifications:  A completed academic doctorate (PhD, DSc, EdD or equivalent) in physical therapy or a related area of study is required. Job Description:

The Assistant/Associate Professor will be assigned teaching, scholarly activity, service, and clinical practice responsibilities as a faculty member in the COM. They will report to the Chair of the Department of Primary Care and participate and assist the Department Chair and colleagues in the development and implementation of curricula to integrate the medical specialties in team-based, large and small group learning environments as well as physical exam and clinical teaching.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Continuously prepares and teaches course material throughout the four-year DO curriculum, which may include assignments in the classroom setting, teaching laboratories, simulation events and remote web-based education. Teaching assignments in medical simulations includes standardized patients (SPs), manikin-based simulation and telemedicine education
• Research or other scholarly activity
• COM or University service
• Clinical practice within FQHC1-2 days per week
• Develops course syllabi
• Actively participates in curriculum and assessment development for student success
• Provides student advisement/office hours
• Continuously participates in admissions activities
• Engages in research/scholarly activity and continued professional development
• Participates in patient-centered and team-based clinical care as part of the KCU commitment to improving the well-being of the communities we serve
• Participates in Commencement and White Coat ceremonies
• Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adheres to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards

Qualifications:

• Professional degree (DO, MD) from an accredited institution of higher education
• Completion of a Primary Care (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics), Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, or Preventive Medicine residency, and are currently board eligible or board certified
• Candidates who have completed subspecialty training in a recognized subspecialty and currently BE/BC by appropriate specialty board(s) will also be seriously considered
• Current or eligible for licensure in the state of Missouri and Kansas
• Current or eligible for BNDD/DEA certification
• Current or eligible for a hospital appointment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Interest in clinically serving the underserved population
• Prior teaching experience in an academic setting
• Knowledge of instructional technologies
• Experience with curricular and instructional design, and training or experience in educational theory and/or evaluation
• Experience using innovative teaching methods and/or a willingness to utilize the learning sciences as they apply to medical education. These methods may include presentation-based education, team-based learning, “flipped classroom”, distance learning (synchronous and asynchronous), interactive large group presentation, audience response systems, curriculum delivery systems, simulation-based instruction and proficiency in assessment and exam item writing (COMLEX and USMLE-style questions)

Summary

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the discipline and the departmental core; provide thesis mentoring, engage in Program, College, and University service, and engage in scholarly research. This is a 9 month-August to May assignment

Essential Functions

The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to:

• utilize face-to-face, online, and blended teaching modalities to facilitate student learning in graduate and undergraduate coursework as assigned by the department chair

• have experience teaching one or more of the following: Sport Psychology, Exercise Psychology, CMPC Supervised Mentorship, Sport Ethics.

• Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, teaching undergraduate and graduate level sport psychology courses, advising students, developing, and enforcing policy, evaluating student performance, supervising graduate sport psychology practicum placements, serving as MS thesis research chair and committee member for SEPP students, participating in accreditation processes, and administering other aspects of the graduate education program. 

• The candidate will engage in scholarly activity, university, and community service, and work with other university departments to recruit students in the College of Health and Wellness.

Qualifications/Requirements

• All applicants must be CMPC certified through the Association of Applied Sport Psychology & be approved mentors for CMPC certification.

• Applicants must have a Doctoral degree in sport, exercise, or performance psychology or a related field and have CMPC mentorship experience.

• Previous experience teaching at a college level is preferred

The Opportunity:

The Computer, Electrical, and Software Engineering Department at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, AZ invites applications for a tenure track faculty position as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Computer Science or Software Engineering for the 2024-2025 Academic Year with review of applications expected to begin in January, 2024.  

The Computer, Electrical, and Software Engineering Department is a part of the College of Engineering. The College of Engineering also houses the Aerospace Engineering Department and Mechanical Engineering Department.  A Cyber Intelligence and Security degree program in the College of Security and Intelligence includes an isolated cyber and computer forensics lab that offers collaborative project opportunities.  A Simulation Science, Games and Animation degree program in the College of Arts and Sciences includes a lab supporting VR/AR/XR development, motion and face capture, and welcomes collaboration.  There are many other opportunities for inter-departmental teaching and research.  Our fully accredited undergraduate engineering programs place students in aerospace companies and major university graduate schools across the nation.  

Description:

Interest and ability to teach undergraduate software engineering and computer science courses and laboratories is essential; experience with aviation/aerospace applications and Agile development is highly desirable.  Professional and scholarly activities are expected for the position, but quality teaching is the primary responsibility.  Additional responsibilities of the position include recruitment of students, advising and mentoring undergraduate students, course and program assessment and development, and university/community service.  Excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communications skills, and a strong command of the English language are required.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should have an earned doctorate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field at the time of employment.  Areas of expertise for this position which would be a plus include networks and net–centric computing, computer system security and defense, information security, trustworthy systems, databases, artificial intelligence, machine learning, embedded systems, or autonomous systems.   Significant industry, entrepreneurial and/or teaching experience would strengthen a candidate’s credentials, but recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
