As part of the company’s sustainability journey, we are looking for an enterprising and well-rounded individual to establish and drive the carbon services business of the company in the ASEAN region. Reporting to the Group Head of Sustainability, your remit is identify suitable carbon projects to originate, manage them to ensure optimal delivery of high integrity carbon credits and partner with business units to facilitate carbon credit sales. Collaboration with carbon market ecosystem players such as project developers, carbon offset program provider, auditors, carbon exchanges and government agencies would be important to the success of this role. To perform well in this role, you should have the following attributes:
- Well-versed with the function of carbon markets (voluntary and compliance) and the interoperability of the voluntary and compliance markets.
- Well-connected with carbon ecosystem players, preferably in the ASEAN region.
- Experience in due diligence work for projects under consideration.
- Experience managing carbon projects, preferably agro-forestry, nature-based, from the risks and opportunities perspectives. This would entail monitoring the implementation of end-to-end certification activities and to ensure projects meet desired targets.
- Experience in carbon project origination and development would be plus. This would entail the preparation of the Project Design Document (PDD) and/or Monitoring Report (MR) to support the validation and verifications by external auditors.
Note : In the early stages of establishing its carbon services business, it is envisaged that PDD and MR preparation work as well as the associated liaison with third parties and government agencies to get the first projects registered and issued with a carbon certification program like Verra or Gold Standard is expected for the incipient period of business build-up. Thereafter, more resources will be brought in to support this role.
Requirements:
- A degree in a relevant field, preferably environmental science or engineering related.
- At least 5 years of active professional experience in carbon markets in a managerial capacity.
- Must be fluent in English and have legal right to work in Bangkok / Jakarta / Kuala Lumpur / Singapore.
- Knowledge of the use of Excel or other worksheets.
- Organizational skills, meticulous and detailed in work.
