We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. As a Senior Accountant - Record to Report, you will be trusted to primarily support payroll accounting for North America. In this role, a typical day will include:

• Interact proactively with functional areas to ensure accurate accounting and financial reporting is accomplished within prescribed deadlines and in accordance with IFRS / Alcon Accounting Manual
• Prepare accurate and robust monthly balance sheet account analyses and reconciliations, including analyses for balance sheet reviews
• Prepare accurate journal entries in a timely manner
• Ongoing process improvements made through the month to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and address business / operational changes.
• Collaborate proactively with key stakeholders, including Finance colleagues, internal and external accounting authorities/auditors, and Regional/Global Financial Reporting and Accounting. Communication with these partners is appropriate and timely when questions regarding accounting/reporting matters arise.
• Ensure all processes comply with Alcon standards and policies (i.e. global processes, Alcon Accounting Manual, Alcon Financial Controls Manual, Management Authorization Levels, etc.).
• Understand all impacts to the general ledger for assigned areas due to other intra- and inter-departmental transactions including manufacturing, inventory and cost accounting, inter-company receivables and payables, cash activity and activity from other functional departments.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs)
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
• 2 Years of Relevant Experience

Preferred Requirements:

• Education in Accounting or Finance; experience as a CPA/Chartered Accountant
• Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS (GAAP), accounting, and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience with payroll accounting and personal benefits accounting
• Strong analytical skills
• Proficient ERP knowledge (SAP); Proven Microsoft Office skills, including MS Access, Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
• Experience working on process improvement projects and financial process engineering
• Experience working within shared services teams
