This position is located at Salt Lake City International Airport in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and clear faults that occur with the baggage handling system in a timely manner.
• Transport baggage within the baggage handling area.
• Report any issues found that could potentially lead to additional system failures.
• Complete entry level Maintenance Mechanic duties as needed.
• Assist with operational issues during outages or failures.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of a Bag Jam Clearer, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.  Ability to work in outside weather conditions on an airport ramp around aircrafts and the confined areas of baggage conveyor systems. Specific vision abilities required by this job include good close proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Good hand / eye coordination is required.

Work Environment:

The work environment is similar to airport operation with vehicular traffic. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, cold, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employees will work on an airport ramp around aircrafts and around heavy equipment

Mercari Summer Internship 2024

• Interns will be tasked with developing features for the Mercari marketplace app in Japan or the Merpay mobile payment service. Successful candidates will join a team of software engineers, who come from diverse backgrounds and hold various expertise, and work as a member of their team.
• The specific content of your work will involve projects to improve the UX and specifications of our products and make them more friendly for Mercari, Merpay and Mercoin users. Currently, Mercari is implementing various initiatives including improving the search screen to enhance the listing and purchasing experience, and therefore you will be requested to actually handle our technology and data to produce output.

Internship Period

Compensation

Required Qualifications

• Student of 16 years of age or older who would be able to join Mercari Group as a new graduate in or before June 2025
• Interest in joining Mercari Group as a software engineer after the internship is over
• Basic knowledge of RDBMS and SQL
• Experience developing/operating products
• Experience in at least one of the following:
• Backend
• API development using a programming language such as Go, PHP, or Java
• Frontend
• Development using such things as JavaScript or React
• Mobile (iOS or Android)
• Development using Swift or Kotlin
• Machine Learning
• Practical experience with ML modeling or development of ML systems
• Platform Engineering
• Development using Go or Kubernetes
• Site Reliability Engineering
• Development using Go, Kubernetes, or Terraform

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with project management or team leadership
• Ability to design and develop products while considering performance and scalability
• Knowledge of object-oriented software development, networks, and memory management
• Knowledge of software, including unit testing, feature testing, and E2E testing
• Knowledge of and experience with networks, Linux, monitoring systems, logging, and operations
• Experience developing and operating systems using microservice architecture
• Experience with software development in the cloud (especially GCP or AWS)
• Knowledge of UI development
• Experience contributing to an open-source project
• Experience with team development using Git/GitHub or similar version management systems

About the Position

School of Management within the College of Business and Law is looking to recruit an Associate Professor or Professor in International Business with a track record of teaching and research excellence. • The Associate Professor (Academic Level D) will provide leadership and foster excellence in teaching and research efforts of the school, within the University, and with the community, professional, commercial, and industry sectors. More specifically, the Associate Professor is responsible for providing original, innovative and distinguished contributions to the School’s programs for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities relevant to this discipline at a national and international level.  The Associate Professor will also teach and make a significant contribution to teaching and learning in the mainstream international business strategy courses or subjects such as managing cross-border e-commerce in the digital era, global business environment, managing multinational enterprises with the aim of improving learning outcomes for students.

• The Professor (Academic Level E) is a senior academic and eminent researcher in the mainstream international business strategies, contributing significantly to teaching and research outputs, building capability of staff and promoting strong academic performance. The Professor will provide high level research leadership developing and leading research project teams and programs and fostering a vibrant research culture. They will be required to develop a high-quality and productivity-driven research network across RMIT and with external national and global partners. The Professor will also teach and make a significant contribution to teaching and learning in the mainstream international business strategy courses or subjects such as managing cross-border e-commerce in the digital era, global business environment, managing multinational enterprises with the aim of improving learning outcomes for students.

The Department of International Business & Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IBIE), within School of Management, is an interdisciplinary department, bringing together about 20 full-time scholars of International Business, Entrepreneurship, and innovation along with a strong group of associated researchers and HDR students.
