We are seeking a Maintenance Manager to be a part of the integrated supply chain team based in Concord, NC.   This position directly reports to the Plant Manager, Concord North Carolina facility and does directly supervise others.  This role is responsible to provide direction and align systems to ensure plant reliability losses are mitigated to a minimum level through leadership of maintenance management, facilities management, and reliability/controls engineering.  As a key member of plant operations staff this role will develop maintenance team’s objectives and targets to facilitate strong environmental, safety, and plant/production reliability performance that align with site wide operational goals.

• Ensure maintenance develops into a proactive organization via the success and sustainment of Total Production Maintenance (TPM) system. Identify and then drive results for key performance indicators to achieve target maintenance performance.

• Proposes medium to long range improvement plan for the facilities to support Mid-Term Plan (MTP) and (spell out acronym) LRP along with the measurable and KPI evolution.

• Works with site leader and Process Technology Center (PTC) to define priority of maintenance project execution according to the business needs.

• Prepare and manage operating budget within established guidelines for all responsible areas.

• Champion site power and other utilities reliability as well as monitoring energy consumption and energy conservation and improvement.

• Provide technical leadership to ensure proper installation, operation, consistency of applications, and long-term viability of manufacturing equipment.

• Support projects and technical activities that includes equipment design, automation, modification, purchase, installation, parts inventory control and commissioning to make sure maintenance considerations are integrated.

• Responsible for maintaining the facilities buildings and grounds in a cost-effective manner that creates a positive image to customers and community.

• Drive the implementation, use and optimization of CMMS.

• Foster an environment of root cause problem solving as well as corrective action to prevent future reoccurrence.

Education Background:

• Must be proficient in Excel, and Minitab is strongly preferred (primarily to perform data analysis).
• Direct experience with continuous process 24/7 is an advantage.
• Strong commitment to PDCA methodology
• Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing experience are strongly preferred.
• Materials Engineering & Compounding (Extrusion) and CAD skills a plus

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plant Improvement and Expansion:

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for all aspects of plant maintenance coordination including leading and directing maintenance technicians.  Foster a well-trained and motivated staff. Assist the Maintenance Manager to direct and coordinate maintenance policies and procedures while maintaining a safe and clean environment.  Manage and oversee the preventative maintenance and repairs of equipment.  Quickly assess problems to minimize downtime of production.  Must possess knowledge of SQF Quality Management policies and procedures along with GMP practices to ensure all maintenance employees understand and follow the company policies and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:  Must have the ability and experience to: lead, direct, evaluate and train a staff of 15 maintenance technicians; measure, monitor and reduce machine downtime; diagnose basic electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, plumbing, and electronic (PLC) problems and direct/assist with repairs; promote a ‘Safety First’ culture amongst staff; and, develop and maintain an effective preventative maintenance program for equipment and plant.  

Education:  Associates degree or college program certificate; or 2+ years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a food manufacturing environment.

Experience: 2 years of experience as a maintenance lead or supervisor with direct reports.  Experience in directing, evaluating and training maintenance technicians.

Communication Skills: Must be able to speak clearly, listen and understand ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.  Ability to express ideas and concepts clearly in writing and understand the same.  

Computer Skills:  Must have basic PLC experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook at the intermediate level.  Experience with SAP a plus.

SUMMARY: This facility is part of our Prepared Foods business unit. The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning maintenance activities. This is a career path job with team members in this position gaining experience necessary for maintenance management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain SAP PM System data and reporting.
• Analyze data for use in maintenance planning and scheduling.
• Maintain and develop enterprise-wide Best Practice preventative maintenance.
• Ensuring a continuing review of P.M. work orders as they relate to equipment history.
• Make recommended modifications to optimize equipment reliability and maintenance labor utilization.
• Learn universal maintenance standards to develop reasonable expectancies for the time to complete maintenance tasks.
• Identify and label all new equipment in keeping with Tyson standards and keeping records current.
• Use of Key Performance Indicators to provide fact-based feedback to Maintenance Manager.
• Plan maintenance work with regard to level of skill and safety training required to complete task.
• Review SAP data from other Tyson locations with similar equipment and report findings and recommendations.
• Administer maintenance shift scheduling, work order backlog, and recommended planning for scheduled downtime work, including scheduling availability of parts.
• Interface with engineering, local management, Operations Support, and various other corporate departments as necessary and outside entities when working on special projects and when performing CIR development content.
• Interface with Operations Support concerning appropriate reports to develop, track and report to management.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Education: Minimum of a high school or GED diploma. Any special training in maintenance or education beyond post high school level is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of two years in house mechanical experience; knowledge of parts room procedures and policies. Previous experience in successfully planning and scheduling maintenance management is a plus.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and SAP preferred or ability to learn in short period of time.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Special Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, organizational skills, interpersonal communication skills and problem-solving skills are an absolute necessity for this position. The position requires the ability to work independently.
