­­­­­­­­­­­­­Overall purpose of role

To be responsible for and accountable to the Global Head of ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Investment Services Platform & Product Management and Co-Head of Investment Analytics for the operations of the Asia Investments platforms and products whilst supporting the Head of Investment in Asia in enabling growth through analysis, governance, and process developments. The focus of the Head of Investment Analytics and Product Management - Asia is to establish, develop and oversee the Investment Performance, Risk & Oversight framework across the Asia Investment business whilst supporting the business’ growth agenda in the investment management space. The role holder is expected to be the conduit for leveraging Barclay’s global resources and capabilities, and governance frameworks and is expected to extensively use their internal Barclays network to efficiently coordinate and leverage group wide resources to support the Asia business to grow successfully in a controlled way. The role will be key to supporting and enhancing the PBWM’s investment capabilities whilst assisting in delivering key initiatives not just in Asia but globally. The role holder will be interacting on a daily basis with senior management, portfolio managers, investment specialists, distribution channels, third party vendor in addition to multiple other business units within the bank.

Key Accountabilities

• As the Head of Investment Analytics and Product Management – Asia, the role holder is accountable for establishing and developing a robust Investment Performance, Risk & Oversight framework across the Asia Investment business while leveraging Barclay’s global governance framework. This will include ensuring timely and accurate investment performance and risk analysis of our Discretionary, Advisory, Private Equity and Funds propositions. The role holder will use extensive market and financial knowledge to clearly articulate the impact of investment decisions on portfolios and products through the provision of investment performance, risk, and attribution commentary both internally and externally.
• The role holder will play an active role in engaging specialist support from across the Barclays Group and active development of key strategic growth projects in Asia (e.g.: Launch of Singapore VCC, alignment of India to Global framework, Asia sales & suitability framework, PIU, guardrail checks etc.)
• The role holder will also participate in Global strategic initiatives designed to provide robust, sustainable solutions through effective use of technology as well as identify and affect tactical changes to existing processes.
• From an investment performance and risk perspective, the role holder will need to ensure that local regulation & industry best practice are adhere to while leveraging the role holders network to efficiently employ groupwide resources and capabilities to achieve this.
• The role holder will play a key role in coordinating and leveraging the Investment Quant Lab for Asia clients and provide specialist local knowledge and expertise on client investment proposals and portfolio reviews.
• The role holder is required to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the Barclays Private Banking business and in particular its approach to Investments and its Wealth Philosophy, Investment Philosophy for all investment services and products and will be required to help develop and deliver analytics which support associated bespoke client enquiries.
• The role holder will support the Asia Investment and Distribution team in delivering their growth targets in a safe, sound, and sustainable manner.
• The role holder will have responsibility for managing the Market Data sources procured for efficiency and their use to support client enquiries in Asia while making sure this is coordinated cost efficiently with the wider group and through data agreements with vendors.
• In conjunction with partners in Risk Oversight & Control, Operational Risk and Compliance, the role holder will ensure adequate controls are in place to minimise and mitigate operational & investment risks and wider risks in the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF). This will include the design and implementation of effective systems of control related to investment performance and investment risk.
• The role holder will act as a facilitator in helping to streamline and enhance PBWM Product Development & Management Governance in Asia and ensure that this is in line with both global and local standards.

Person Specification

The role holder must have:

• Experience in investment performance attribution and investment risk.
• Proven capability of building relationships/network within an organisation in order to effectively utilise and leverage resources and capabilities.

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

• Educated to a minimum of graduate level in business, finance, economics or a closely related field.
• The role holder will have extensive experience in investment performance attribution and investment risk for equity and fixed income investment portfolios in line with Global Investment Performance standards (GIPS).
• The role holder will have extensive knowledge and experience in Avaloq, Olorin and Hypercube system.
• The role holder will have very strong relationship skills with experience of managing expectations of senior stakeholders.
• The role holder will have extensive experience of working in a complex investment environment in Private Banking, Investment Banking or Asset Management handling sophisticated needs of clients.
• The role holder will have broad experience of the Investment and Financial service industry.
• The role holder will have detailed regulatory knowledge, in particular local regulatory requirements, and an overall understanding of the business impact of the regulatory environment in European and/or APAC markets.
