• Undertake quality checks for cleanliness and functionality before packing to agreed specifications.
• Pack sets and instruments using various designs of wrappings/containers in such a way as to ensure an effective sterile field for up to one year after sterilisation.
• The packer will sign the tray lists of instruments/apparatus, therefore accepting final responsibility for work undertaken.
• Deal with clinical user queries and reschedule workload when Fast track items are received.
• Visual checks are carried out on all wash cycles to ensure correct parameters are achieved, if these are not achieved wash load is failed on traceability system and returned for reprocessing.
• To include tamper proof security seals, sterilizing indicators and wrapping materials.
• Assist in restocking of supplies and record all information required.
• Comply with Gowning room procedure.
• Deliver the workload within the agreed time and to the required customer service level agreement.

Sterilisers
• Test all sterilisers within the department in accordance with the departmental Quality Control Procedures.
• To record and process the test results and demonstrate compliance, so as to enable audits and facilitate analysis.
• Process instruments using sterilisers, maintaining safe working practice at all times, use correct PPE when necessary.
• Deliver the workload within the agreed time and to the required customer service level agreement.

High Level Disinfection / Endoscopy
• To decontaminate flexible endoscopes to agreed standards as per departmental standard operational procedures.
• To ensure endoscopes are stored and transported in line with agreed standards as per departmental standard operational procedures.
• To ensure all equipment used to decontaminate flexible endoscopes is used correctly.
• To undertake the complete cycle of endoscope decontamination - visual inspection, manual cleaning, disinfecting, storing, tracking & tracing and collection and delivery of all flexible scopes used in the Trust.
• To implement the correct method of decontamination of the endoscopes in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and protocols as issued by the department.
• To safely and correctly use Endoscope Washer Disinfectors (EWDs), Drying Cabinets and all other associated equipment as per manufacturer’s instructions.
• To work within COSHH Regulations in respect of substances used, comply with departmental procedures for use of PPE and be competent in dealing with spillages of chemicals.
• To assist with all relevant tests required on endoscopes, washer disinfectors and associated equipment as per departmental protocol.
• To ensure all necessary documentation concerning the decontamination of each endoscope (tracking and tracing) is completed effectively and efficiently and in accordance with the departmental procedure (electronic and paper systems).

Main duties:

MFT hosts one of the largest diagnostic Biochemistry services within the NHS. Collectively the laboratories provide a diverse range of complex and specialist services for both adults and paediatrics across the country, with MFT being a large tertiary referral centre and university teaching hospital.

We have exciting opportunities at our Oxford Road Campus and are seeking enthusiastic, aspirational and highly motivated Medical Laboratory Assistants, ideally with laboratory experience in a relevant pathology discipline, to join our POCT team .The successful candidate will require a working knowledge of laboratory areas, including both practical and basic theoretical knowledge of the various methods employed and will join a team of Biomedical Scientists to deliver the day to day operation of the POCT team.

The Post holder will act as a Medical Laboratory Assistant supporting HCPC registered staff within the department, working under both direct and indirect supervision performing an extensive range of automated, semi-automated and manual techniques. Accuracy and attention to detail is essential to ensure the service is safe and complies with current standards, clinical governance, health and safety and risk management policies.

NHS laboratory and hospital experience are desirable; however full training will be provided. Candidates must be in possession of an appropriate science NVQ level3, HCS Apprenticeship level 2 certificate of achievement level1 or equivalent experience.

The post is based at Trafford Hospital with rotation to both Altrincham General Hospital and the CT and MR unit at Withington Hospital. The Radiology Department Assistants are fundamental to the smooth running of the department, supporting clinical activities in all modalities including CT, MR, Ultrasound and Fluoroscopy. Radiology is a busy sub-specialty and we undertake a wide range of examinations and this role provides the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art environment together with a friendly and dedicated team of staff. You will become a valued member of the department and work closely with the Radiographers, Sonographers and Consultants and also with the wider multidisciplinary team.

The role will suit someone who likes to move around within a friendly department and is flexible. The access into all the areas within the department keeps the job interesting and the successful candidate will face different challenges in the different modalities.

Previous experience in a healthcare environment is desirable. You will assist in the care of the patients during their visit to the department and also clinical staff during procedures. You will prepare for and assist with Medical staff in performing procedures such as biopsies, aspirations and injections and other departmental duties to support the service.

You need to be able to work in a team environment and be able to work under pressure. You will need to be a good communicator as you will have to liaise with both clinical and non-clinical staff. You should also have good telephone skills as you must be able to take messages accurately to allow the other staff to make decisions regarding prioritization of workload.

In return, we will provide a comprehensive induction programme and you will be appraised on a yearly basis with a view to developing knowledge and skills where appropriate including intravenous cannulation.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for full-time, fixed-term Junior Clinical Fellows to join our Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.

We are one of the leading teaching hospitals in the UK, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and facilities. It is the home of Warwick Medical School, providing wide-ranging opportunities to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research. UHCW is situated in the heart of the West Midlands with easy access to the rural Warwickshire countryside, Birmingham and London.

The successful candidates will be primarily responsible for looking after in-patients and emergency referrals to OMFS, and assisting in emergency and elective theatre activity. There will opportunity to gain exposure to many areas of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, which may include Craniomaxillofacial Trauma, Orthognathics, Temporomandibular joint surgery, the full remit of head and neck surgery including reconstructive surgery and thyroid surgery.

The successful candidate’s clinical sessions will initially be at UHCW but in the future may include some out-patient clinical activity at either Hospital of St Cross, Rugby, Warwick Hospital or George Eliot Hospital Nuneaton. Duties and responsibilities include:
• Work with other members of the Maxillofacial team to provide a comprehensive general surgical service to the Trust, Primary Care Trusts and General Practitioners
• Participate in the Maxillofacial second on-call rota to ensure that appropriate emergency services are provided out-of-normal working hours.
• Provide a consultation and advisory service to clinical colleagues in other specialties within the Trust and Primary Care when on-call.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialties and participate in regular clinical meetings and other post graduate activities.
• Participate in the professional supervision and development of trainee doctors within the specialty.
• Demonstrate a firm understanding in Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Clinical Audit – this will include the development and maintenance of appropriate systems and practices to ensure continued safe clinical practice.

The timetable will be dependent on the clinical experience and educational aspirations of the appointed candidate, but they should expect to spend some time in different subspecialty areas of OMFS akin to a registrar rotation.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Franklin Ward as a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant. Franklin Ward is a 28-bedded ward with a mix of acute elderly (and dementia patients) and a small number of haematology patients.

The post holder will provide patient-centred and compassionate care at all times and work as a member of the wider team to deliver clinical care under the supervision of a registered nurse. We have an exciting opportunity for a Assistant Practitioner (Therapy) post within the In-patient Therapy Team on the Stroke Unit at Watford General Hospital.

The successful applicant must have significant experience as a therapy or nursing assistant in the NHS and have a passion for rehabilitating patients in the acute setting. They will join a friendly, dedicated therapy team providing high quality stroke care.

The successful candidate may work independently, managing their own caseload and making treatment decisions autonomously for a select group of patients over-viewed/delegated by the qualified Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists on the team. They will be assessing both non-complex medical patients on the stroke unit and assisting in assessment of stroke patients and independently screening Transient Ischaemic Attacks (TIA’s).
