PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares individual, corporate, partnership, and other types of tax returns.
• Performs audit, review, compilation, and other assurance services.
• Gains experience, exposure, and knowledge of procedures, workpapers and systems.
• Supports multiple client engagements on time and within budget, identifying issues and communicating progress.
• Expands industry knowledge, through greater exposure to peers, clients, and formal training opportunities.
• Completes research and special projects as needed.
• Communicates effectively with clients and CLA family members on a regular basis.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Working towards the achievement of a bachelor’s degree – Degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.
• Achieving credit requirements to be eligible to sit for the CPA exam per state requirements.
• General knowledge of accounting principles and reporting of financial data.
• Willingness to learn new technologies.
• Proficient with Microsoft (MS) Windows and Office products.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to client sites.

• Stays abreast of regulatory and QA feedback, industry expectations, and external market trends to anticipate their impact on future capabilities for IA.

• Support strategic IA initiatives and change management processes; work closely with the business leadership to assist with strategic initiatives.

• Lead and oversee a team that develops, drives, and delivers key processes and meaningful insights that support strategic decision for the global organization.

Qualifications and Competencies:

• BA/BS or equivalent.

• 15-20 years of directly related experience in a similar industry

• Risk/control and Management Reporting and/or audit background is required.

• Strong experience in a related role with extensive experience in business, functional and people management, with proven abilities in taking responsibility for executing concurrently on a portfolio of high-quality deliverables according to strict timetables.

• Effective negotiation skills, a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating issues and strength in sustaining independent views.  This individual must be an articulate and effective communicator, both orally and in writing, with an energetic, charismatic and approachable style.

What You Will Do:

The IT Risk and Internal Audit Consultant will support stakeholder engagement and technical delivery for efforts supporting a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) client with IT controls audit/assessments, remediation, and other related support. The client is responsible for coordinating and monitoring internal controls for the organization, including performing assessments in accordance with OMB Circular A-123, the FISCAM, and assisting other program offices with remediation and other related internal controls tasks. This is an ideal role for someone with an IT audit background who is looking to utilize their skills to support clients internally as a consultant rather than as an external auditor.

The IT Risk and Internal Audit Consultant will have a role in working directly with clients and other organizational stakeholders to support IT internal control efforts, including audits/assessments, remediation, and other ad-hoc efforts. Day-to-day tasks include some or all of the following:

• Performing rigorous audits/assessments of IT controls using industry-standard guidance and leading practices

• Performing walkthrough interviews and maintaining communication with a variety of client stakeholders, including system personnel such as system and database administrators

• Requesting, obtaining, reviewing, and analyzing a variety of artifacts to assist in executing IT controls testing such as security plans, SOPs, system screenshots, and system configuration settings
