Our SSEN Distribution Asset Management team consists of Asset Risk Management and Equipment Specification. They are involved in running a programme of projects exploring new technologies and commercial arrangements across network activities and identifying practical solutions. They are also involved in operating some of the new solutions that have been developed by the innovation team.
Portfolio Management is part of SSENs Asset Management directorate. The Portfolio Management team act as custodian of the 132kV, 33kV, 11kV and LV Primary and distribution network and is responsible for planning, technical development and overseeing investment in SSENs distribution networks in the South of England. The team's responsibilities include investment management of the network to identifying project solutions to improve the health and performance of the network.
Key Responsibilities:
- We're looking for a Portfolio Investment Engineer to help identify and manage the CAPEX and OPEX investment programme, ensuring our electricity network remains fully compliant with the technical and regulatory requirements of our licence.
- Holding a key role within the Electricity Networks business, you will ensure that available funding is spent efficiently and effectively on secondary Voltage investments.
- You will work closely with a number of other teams in SSEN and will contribute to the planning and development of the distribution networks in line with the company's licence obligations and objectives set by the industry regulator in the Price Control Reviews.
- Working in line with industry bodies, such as the industry regulator OFGEM, the UK Transmission Operator National Grid, and Renewable Developers.
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- To be successful in this role you will be educated to a minimum of HNC in Electrical Engineering and will have experience of working on Distribution Network Operators (DNO) Primary and/or Distribution networks.
- You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills and a passion for providing excellent customer service - being able to demonstrate an ability to work well with external customers and consultants, and with other internal departments within SSEN.
- You will also have strong leadership and organisational skills as well as good judgement in decision making under pressure.
- Good analytical skills and an ability to solve problems on a logical basis, and then communicate proposals and associated reasoning will be crucial to your success.
- You will have excellent MS Office skills, and experience using network modelling software packages such as PSS SINCAL would be advantageous.
- It is an essential requirement for this role that you have a full, current driving licence.
