You will be proficient in planning, launching, optimizing, troubleshooting, and analyzing Display & Video advertising campaigns in the platform. About the Role

The Opportunity:

Applications are invited for a Lecturer/Reader position (comparable to Assistant/Associate Professor) in Robot Systems in the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh.

The successful candidate will have (or be near to completing) a PhD in a relevant area, an established research agenda and the enthusiasm and ability to undertake original research, to manage and direct a research group, and to engage with teaching and academic supervision. We are seeking current and future leaders in the field.

Further Information

Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS) is a highly interdisciplinary field of research, encompassing innovations in hardware design, techniques for perception, planning and control, all of which are increasingly being transformed by emerging advances in Artificial Intelligence, and finally user-centred development of interfaces and interaction methods.

The School of Informatics is seeking to extend its teaching and research in robotics, with a particular focus on integrated approaches to complete robotic systems motivated by emerging applications of broad societal relevance. As a result of sustained efforts over the years, and through our involvement in the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics, we occupy a leadership position in the Robotics and Autonomous Systems space. Our RAS activities include a Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) and Data-Driven Innovation (DDI) initiatives with the Bayes Centre and National Robotarium (based in Heriot Watt University, jointly operated with the University of Edinburgh). Following the creation and appointment of a new Chair in Robot Systems, we are now inviting applications for an academic post at the Lecturer/Reader level to support this expansion.

We seek candidates who are emerging leaders engaged in research and teaching in robotics and autonomous systems. The successful candidate will have a vision for how to develop robotic systems in the context of emerging and established application areas, both as a field and within the Edinburgh ecosystem. As well as contributing to research in and beyond the School of Informatics, the candidate will contribute to postgraduate teaching, undergraduate courses, curriculum development and the supervision of PhD students. The candidate's research programme should complement the School's existing portfolio of research within the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics, including large projects involving the use of robotics in extreme environments, healthcare, transportation and space systems, and the Centre for Doctoral Training, with a focus on dependable and deployable AI for robotics.

Your skills and attributes for success:

UE08 Lecturer:

PhD or equivalent (such as extensive industry experience), and experience as an established academic in robotics and autonomous systems, or a closely related field
Candidates who are close to completing their PhD (ie. thesis submission is imminent), and who otherwise meet the selection criteria, will be considered.

Ability to undertake original research, including planning and delivery of projects.

The CERC Fellow will apply systems modelling and methodologies to compute the GHG emissions and soil C sequestration from both cropping systems and grazed pastures, under different management and climate scenarios. Importantly, the work will expand previous limited case studies to broader scales, potentially nationally. The objective of this work is to understand the implications of crop and livestock integration across Australia’s broadacre farming regions and under what circumstances are the greatest GHG mitigation and food production intensity can be provided.   The CERC Fellow will bring together biophysical simulation modelling with life-cycle accounting methods to compute GHG emissions from the different crop and livestock production systems. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several  U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets.
