-Running reports for RTC orders, Consult Tracking Management, Pending appointments over 28 days, Open Encounters and Find Next 3 appointments, analyzing data and distributing work as necessary and adjusting clinic slots to accommodate patient needs.
Employee plans and organizes work with general assistance from the supervisor as to meet local and VA-wide time frames to complete analysis requirements, reports and special assignments and only refers to the non-routine and high technical problems to his/her supervisor. The incumbent is responsible for reporting backlogs, difficulties in meeting deadlines, or difficulty in securing information from clinicians or the record. Is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of information obtained to carry out required duties.
Routinely communicates with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professional staff using sound interpersonal skills and is constantly aware of the sensitive information. Otherwise, works independently making decisions based on guidelines, precedents and regulations and performs duties in such a manner that only minimal supervision is required.
Performance is judged in terms of overall effectiveness of the operation through broad general objectives, the adequacy and accuracy of the work, timeliness, and conformance to established procedures, policies and instructions.

Major Duties:
The Firefighter receives immediate supervision from the Lead Firefighter. Completes all assigned duties, whether under normal or emergency conditions. This includes the duties of Driver/Operators who also function as Hazardous Materials Operations and EMTs.
As a crew member, he/she is assigned to various positions on either the pumper or rescue/hazmat truck. As assigned, the incumbent shall complete the daily vehicle and equipment check of all VA fire service emergency response vehicles. The Firefighter attends and conducts training for personnel as directed by the Fire Chief in all phases of firefighting and protection within the structural series. Takes charge of all firefighting activities at the scene of a fire in the absence of the senior fire officer. During emergency situations, must be able to execute all firefighting and/or rescue operations without hesitation.
The Firefighter responds to all Medical Center emergencies, performs such firefighting duties as determining the nature and extent of the fire, the appropriate action required, laying, and disconnecting hoses, directing fire streams, operating firefighting equipment, ventilation of burning buildings, performing evacuations and rescues, administering appropriate emergency treatments, etc. Incumbent performs noninvasive medical procedures. In performing these Basic Life Support (BLS) procedures, the incumbent will:
1. Perform initial and on-going focused patient assessment and physical examination.
2. Determine priority of patient care based on assessment findings.
3. Take, record, and monitor patient's baseline vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, and pulse.
4. Manage respiratory and cardiac emergencies, to include performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), bag-valve-mask resuscitation, and automatic external defibrillation (AED).
5. Control external bleeding with direct pressure and treat shock with pneumatic anti-shock garments.
6. Splint and immobilize fractures and dislocations for transport.
7. Attempt to ascertain whether the patient has preexisting medical problems and obtain a comprehensive drug history from the patient that includes the names, strength, and dosage of drugs taken by the patient.
8. Assist patients in taking emergency medications for certain complaints, e.g., Nitroglycerin tablets for chest pain, Epinephrine auto-injections for allergic reactions, or Albuterol inhalers for asthma patients, under the direction of standing orders or of a physician.
9. Establish communication with the receiving facility and provide all patient information, including estimated time of arrival.
10. Employ a variety of established emergency medical techniques, methods, and equipment to stabilize the patient for transport, as soon as possible, to the receiving facility.

Work Schedule: Rotating Shift Work: 72 Hours per week.
NOTE: Salary provided is for a 40 hour work week. Applicants need to be aware that these positions are 72 hour work week and the salary will be adjusted accordingly. Fire Department operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week in which employees are assigned to alternating shifts of 24 hours.

The Supervisory MSA plans and directs programs within the services consult team and has full supervisory responsibility. Assigns and evaluates work of subordinate staff, resolves complex problems, evaluates new products, equipment and systems, identifies educational needs, makes recommendations for hiring selections, evaluates performance, takes disciplinary action as necessary.
Works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model and performs all related duties. Supervises customer service and other MSA duties assigned for proper and timely treatment of patients, time and accurate completion of reports and tasks, assures appointment schedules are maintained by MSA staff, assist with clinic access contingency plans.
Supports patient safety standards using the correct Veterans Affairs Identification of all patients through the use of the two forms of identification, name and full social security number. When records are received will ensure that all necessary health/administrative information are integrated into computerized patient record system (CPRS). The Lead Medical Support Assistant is responsible for initiating and carrying out a variety of administrative and technical duties in support of community care coordination and consult/referral management. The Caregiver Support Program (CSP) Senior Social Worker Caregiver Support is assigned to the CSP with responsibility to act as a subject matter expert (SME) within the CSP team. The incumbent has primary responsibilities to provide clinical evidence-based services and interventions; program development; caregiver, Veteran and staff education on caregiver issues; community outreach; resource development; continuous quality improvement activities; and evaluation/consultation. In addition, the incumbent must be a skilled communicator capable of developing effective partnerships with local, state and federal agencies as well as non-governmental organizations.
The incumbent is responsible for clinical programming and daily operations of the program in conjunction with the program coordinator and manager. Prepares reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use.
The incumbent demonstrates skill in communication and can develop positive, effective relationships with all CSP stakeholders including Veterans, caregivers, local, state, and federal agencies, as well as non-governmental organizations. They provide referrals to VA medical and mental health treatment and to other VA services including VA benefits, as well as community-based social services and other non-VA entitlement programs. If appropriate, they provide referrals or consults, and in some cases facilitate direct admission of a Veteran to other VA programs including but not limited to the Community Residential Care Program, Respite Program, Community Health Care Coordination Program, Hospice, Home Based Primary Care, Telehealth, and the Community Nursing Home Program.
