Integrated Sexual Health Services – Coventry, are seeking to appoint an autonomous Senior Nurse, with a passion for sexual health and HIV nursing to join our sexual heath team where you will provide strong and visible clinical leadership. We are looking to recruit several trainee high intensity therapists in our Ealing IAPT team on a one-year, fixed-term contract. We are seeking to recruit people with either a core profession such as Clinical/ Counselling Psychology, mental health nursing, or social work who have experience of working therapeutically with CBT, or experienced PWPs who would like to make the transition to high intensity therapy. High intensity training will take place Royal Holloway, University of London (Paddington campus) two days per week with trainees being on site in Ealing IAPT three days per week. The 12-month High Intensity course provided by the University is recognised for its high quality and we have a strong track record of successfully supporting our trainees through their studies. You will be studying alongside other colleagues who are also completing the same course and will be guided by our highly knowledgeable and approachable supervisors. In addition, you will receive support to further develop your skills and career with access to a range of CPD opportunities.

Ealing IAPT was one of the first IAPT services to launch in 2008, and is one of the three services provided by West London NHS Trust. We are a large team of over 70 members of staff and are currently working on further expansion. Our main base is in Ealing where we have access to over 16 clinic rooms and two open plan offices. In addition to this, we run clinics at GP surgeries across the borough, covering areas such as Southall, Acton, and Chiswick. Our service is well-established and many of our staff have been with us since the beginning.

Clinical and line management supervision is part of our success, and as a qualified high intensity therapist you will benefit from weekly clinical supervision, monthly line management supervision, and monthly step 3 clinical skills. In addition to this, we operate a duty system on a daily basis with daily debrief to make sure that all new assessments are discussed promptly.

We are looking to recruit 3 High Intensity Trainees (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Trainees) for Sutton, Merton & Wandsworth Talking Therapies services

South West London & St. George’s NHS Trust has been allocated 3 Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) training places with Royal Holloway to start the 12-month CBT training in March 2024. We are looking for individuals with high levels of clinical skill and enthusiasm to join our committed and friendly services and make a difference to the lives of people struggling with depression or an anxiety disorder.

Potential candidates will be expected to hold a registered qualification in one of the following:
• Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner*
• Counselling or Clinical Psychologist
• Counsellors
• Mental Health Nursing
• Social Work
• Occupational Therapy

*Please note that PWPs cannot be recruited as High IAPT Trainees until two years post qualification. These two years of practice commence at the date of confirmation of the full PWP qualification, by the University, not at the end of the teaching timetable. This standard is monitored nationally by both the teaching institution and by BABCP.

Alternatively, candidates may be able to provide evidence that they have practiced within the field of mental health. Such candidates will be expected to produce a full and completed KSA portfolio at interview (documents can be found on the BABCP website).

The successful candidates will join one of the above Talking Therapies services as a band 6, while undertaking an intensive one-year post graduate diploma in IAPT High Intensity CBT with Royal Holloway, University of London. Following successful completion of the course the candidate will be offered a permanent band 7 position as a High Intensity Therapist in one of our SWLSTG Talking Therapies services.

Successful applicants will need to be in a position to begin their training in March 2024. You must be able to attend University, as required, which will include block teaching over several days at the start of the course. Subsequent teaching will be two days per week, in conjunction with a minimum period of high intensity CBT clinical practice on three days a week in one of the two Talking Therapies services.

Sutton, Merton & Wandsworth are diverse boroughs, and we would particularly welcome applications from clinicians who are able to deliver interventions in Polish, Urdu and Tamil.

Sutton Uplift is the South West London & St. George’s Mental Health NHS (SWLSTG) Trust’s innovative primary care mental health service for the residents of Sutton. Merton Uplift is the South West London & St. George’s Mental Health NHS (SWLSTG) Trust’s innovative primary care mental health service for the residents of Merton. Merton Uplift incorporates a Talking Therapies service, Wellbeing Service, Employment Specialists and a Primary Care Recovery Service (PCRS).

Talk Wandsworth is the South West London & St. George’s Mental Health NHS (SWLSTG) Trust’s innovative primary care mental health service for the residents of Wandsworth.

All services are professionally managed by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and operationally managed by a Service Manager.

The high performing Talking Therapies teams provide evidence-based psychological treatments (CBT, IPT, DIT, BCT, EMDR) to people with common mental health problems including depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD and eating disorders within a stepped-care model. The clinical team includes qualified High Intensity CBT Therapists, Clinical and Counselling Psychologists and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners.



You will be providing Step 3 diagnostic assessments and evidence-based CBT treatment on an individual and group basis to clients aged 18 and over presenting with depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD and eating disorders. Once qualified, you will also be involved in the clinical supervision of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Low Intensity Trainees and High Intensity Trainees, for which training will be provided. There will be opportunities to develop areas of interest such as working with long term health conditions, working with clients with learning disabilities, working with perinatal clients, by contributing to project groups or taking a Champion role. The four Talking Therapies services in SWLSTG Trust work closely together to develop care pathways and share expertise.

High quality supervision and CPD are a priority for the team. You will receive regular weekly individual clinical supervision from one of our band 8a or 8b Clinical/Counselling Psychologists or CBT Therapists working within the service. Upon qualification, you will also have the opportunity to attend a monthly clinical training session facilitated by lead clinicians from across the SWLSTG Trust and to attend CBT training workshops led by highly respected clinicians in their field, for example, we have previously welcomed Andrew Beck, Anke Ehlers and Martina Mueller. You will be supported to undertake and obtain accreditation in further treatment approaches, e.g. EMDR, IPT, BCT, and the majority of IAPT clinicians in the Trust have received funding to train in a number of further modalities of interest to them. Additional specialist supervision will be available for these approaches both during training and once it has been completed. We have also recently started developing secondment opportunities for clinicians interested in working in other teams in the Trust which has been positively received.

You will work clinically within primary care settings and be required to work flexible hours in line with the improving access agenda. The service operates from 9am to 8pm Monday to Friday and you will be required to work at least one evening per week. Your working pattern can be negotiated and many of our clinicians prefer to work condensed hours to allow for a better work/life balance. In light of the Covid pandemic, the service is currently offering the opportunity to work remotely, with an expectation that everyone is in the office for two days per week to meet the demand for face to face appointments. It is likely that agile working will continue to be part of the job role moving forward.

In addition to flexible working, we have recently introduced a number of wellbeing initiatives to support our teams. Staff are supported through monthly line management supervision and our newly established active staff wellness groups organise weekly staff wellbeing events including reflective groups and yoga classes.

Following successful completion of your probational period and the course, you will move into a secured qualified role with a High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapist salary.

Whilst training, a typical working week includes 3 days of clinical practice with the service and 2 days attending university. University days are likely to be a hybrid training approach with a combination of remote and face-to-face teaching. Full details of the course will be provided by the University following successful appointment. In order to fulfil the course requirements of delivering face to face treatment and to help you settle into our team, your clinical practice will be conducted from our offices in Kent & Medway.

You will provide High Intensity CBT interventions recommended by NICE to clients with moderate to severe common mental health disorders and will receive weekly supervision provided by both the university and the workplace.

This is a training position with a start date of March 2024.

Preceptorship Period Post-Training

We think it is important that our trainees get continued time and space to learn their craft and have the time to be able to reflect on their cases and build their clinical confidence. After the training is complete, we will continue to support you to consolidate your learning. Following successful completion of the course, all of our practitioners have built in CPD per annum, additional regular CPD sessions, free access to the Bespoke CPD package where they can access upcoming and previous specialised CBT training from global leading academics and clinicians.

Training and development of self and others
• To successfully complete the current approved Level 3 qualification including Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English, and Employee Rights and Responsibilities Workbook (if applicable), to enable registration with The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• To attend allocated study days / events to complete relevant learning and assessments.
• To undertake practical work in the Pharmacy department, including practical assessments to demonstrate on-going competence against set standards. Each duty to be allocated and supervised according to the level of skill the trainee has achieved. This may involve under supervision, passing on practical skills to others.
• To learn and work within Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) at all times and complete in house competency training and assessments in a timely manner.
• To take responsibility for own learning and development and complete up to 10 hours per week of study in own time to ensure deadlines are met.

Maintenance and Distribution of Pharmaceuticals
• Assist with the ordering and receipt of pharmaceuticals to ensure adequate stock available for use.
• Assist with the maintenance of stock through participation in stock checks, stock rotation and evaluation of fitness for purpose.
• Assist with environmental monitoring e.g. temperature control, checks and maintenance of storage areas
• Work within health and safety guidelines including COSHH and complete risk assessments as required
• Accurately select required stock and participate in the distribution service for stock drugs to wards, departments and community clinics to minimise wastage and to ensure adequate stock, which is fit for its purpose
• Assist in identifying stock not fit for purpose and carrying out safe disposal including controlled drugs and expired / damaged stock
• Identifying unavailable stock and ensuring any items owed are communicated to relevant parties before monitoring the progress of outstanding orders
• Maintaining stock in the out of hours ‘Emergency Cupboard’ to ensure vital medication is available 24 hours a day
• Co-ordinating dispensing of prescriptions for external units, ensuring they are packaged correctly, correct documentation is completed and that transport deadlines are met.

Dispensing - Labelling and dispensing a variety of prescription types according to departmental procedure to provide a safe, accurate and timely service.
• Recognising what is required for a prescription to be legal and valid to dispense
• Producing high quality prescription labels using the EPR system in line with prescribers requirements
• Completing accurate calculations to ensure correct dosage and quantities provided
• Working with automated dispensing systems and open shelf stock control to issue required medications
• Accurately dispensing medication for a variety of prescription types
• Performing routine self accuracy checks to ensure safe dispensing
• Dispensing of controlled drugs including maintenance of written legal records in register
• Dispensing of Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) bags in compliance with cold chain requirements and manual handling requirements.
• Handling Chemotherapy including receipt of orders and maintaining records for oral cytotoxic dispensing
• Dispensing complex prescriptions such as palliative care prescriptions
• Processing prescription queries from staff, patients and the public both face to face, by phone and email in a professional manner within limitations
• Maintaining legible, accurate written records relating to endorsement of prescriptions and any other required records.
• To undertake any further duties that may be necessary to help provide the dispensary service

Preparation and Assembly of Pharmaceuticals
• Participate in the preparation and assembly of non-sterile medicinal products / batches and the cleaning and maintenance of other equipment in a manner that meets Good Manufacturing Practice and departmental procedures.

Pharmacy Computer System
• Take personal responsibility for the accurate timely input of information on the pharmacy computer system to ensure the maintenance of a reliable database and adequate stock control.
• Access a variety of patient records while maintaining confidentiality and complying with information governance.
• Book out medication to the correct cost centre to ensure accurate drug budgets are maintained

Medicines Management (involves patient contact and working in ward
environments)
• Working in ward and clinic environments while complying with infection control requirements
• Checking patients own medication (POD’s) and determining suitability for use
• Counselling patients on safe and effective use of their prescribed medicines
• Completing patient medication histories to determine pre-admission medicines
• Liaising with patients, relatives, carers, community pharmacies, care homes and GP’s as required to ensure seamless transmissions of care on admission and discharge
• Participating in a Medicines Information rotation
• Participating in a Homecare services rotation
• Participating in a Care Home rotation
• Mental Health Hospital rotation

Pharmacy reception and shop
• Take in prescriptions from staff over the counter
• Take in prescriptions from outpatients and use questioning to determine and accurately document allergies, other medications and exemption status
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
• Take cash / card payments and process through the till as required.
• Participate in the sale of Over The Counter (OTC) preparations to staff and visitors and give advice on management of minor aliments under supervision at the Community Pharmacy
• Assist with health checks such as diabetes, cholesterol, flu vaccinations and smoking cessation
• Recognising patients who require Pharmacist referral
