Practice Nurse trainee.You are already a registered nurse in the community or in a hospital, and wanting to make the transition into general practice. Nurse Preceptorship Programme. You will join our nursing team with a view to commencing the Preceptorship programme in April 2024. Whitby Health Partnership. You will be based at the Practice for the duration of your Preceptorship, with some training days held locally. You will be under the supervision of an experienced Practice Nurse at the surgery. Fully Funded. Your training will be fully funded by the practice, providing you work within our terms of employment. Hours of working. We are looking the trainee to work 4 days or 32 hours per week. Study time will be built in to support the successfull applicant. What is Preceptorship? Preceptorship is a widely used term to describe the support offered to newly qualified registered healthcare professionals at the start of their career. It is a period of structured transition for a newly qualified registered professional (Preceptee). Preceptorship programmes are widely recognised in the development of newly qualified healthcare professionals and lead them on their way to being a competent and confident practitioner. As stated by (NMC 2020)The main aim of preceptorship is to welcome and integrate newly registered professionals or those transitioning to a new area of practice into their new team and place of work. It helps these professionals translate their knowledge into everyday practice, grow in confidence and understand how to apply the Code in their day-to-day work (NMC 2020). The Preceptee will need to be supported by a Preceptor (mentor), this will be a qualified registered healthcare professional within their setting. Ideally the Preceptor needs to be an experienced / senior member of the Practice Nurse team. The aim is for the Preceptee to develop their confidence and skills as an autonomous professional and continue a journey of lifelong learning. A compulsory element of the Preceptorship programme is completion of a level 6 accredited portfolio that is provided through Buckingham University.The aim of the Clinical Portfolio is for you to collect evidence of progression towards competency defined in the QNI (2020) Standards of Education and Practice for Nurses New to General Practice Nursing, through case study assessment, a clinical skills log and reflective practice, to demonstrate development as a GPN. On successful completion of the preceptorship programme including the portfolio submission achieves a Pass mark, the preceptee will receive a Level 6 Graduate Certificate in General Practice Nursing programme.

Responsible for own actions, ensuring all patient interactions/observations are communicated to the appropriate healthcare practitioner. Undertake agreed clinical and non-clinical tasks, extending range following training in defined practices. Ensure referral to the appropriate healthcare practitioner where appropriate Demonstrate technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient management e.g cannulation/ECG where agreed Organise own daily workload e.g use and cleaning of identified medical and non-medical equipment (beds, hoists etc) Assist with personal patient care e.g toiletin Frequent processing of patient property and valuables, ensuring accurate documentation where appropriat Support less experienced members of staff in their orientation to the ward and rol Utilise IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient dat Support the team in expected and unexpected clinical events requiring high but unpredictable levels of physical effort according to patient dependency/clinical nee Support staff and patients exposed to difficult situations arising in the clinical area e.g after receipt of bad news or following an unexpected even Maintain a clean, safe environment ensuring adherence to Trust standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control at all times Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards. As a Program Analyst (COTA Trainee), you will receive on-the-job and/or formal training to develop analytical skills in the trainee capacity for six (6) months. You will gain qualifying experience in a target position at the NIH.

Placement in the target position will require at least a Fully Successful rating for the duration of the 6 month training period.
