About the role
Our finance professionals play an essential role in maintaining a healthy balance sheet at AIG. They deliver significant finance support for the overall enterprise, optimizing operations, funding and capital structure to honour our commitments to our stakeholders. They inform the decisions of AIG executives and comply with regulatory requirements, maintaining financial discipline, transparency, and controls, while providing timely and meaningful information.
Within the Finance team, the Controllership group manages the financial close process on both a USGAAP and IFRS basis. The team is responsible for internal and external financial reporting and audits including quarterly submissions to our regulators and various governing bodies.
Reporting to the Financial Controller Australia, we are looking to hire a core team member supporting the Controllership team responsible for internal and external financial reporting.

What you need to know
Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:
• Ownership and oversight of meeting monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles to corporate and regulators.
• Lead the annual audit and statutory accounts process.
• Support preparation of annual audited financials and notes disclosures. Prepare specific sections of the audited notes disclosures.
• Support the quarterly USGAAP close.
• Review Balance Sheet reconciliations in the Blackline system
• Maintain a robust internal control framework to deliver accurate and error free reporting, ensuring finance policies and standards are complied with including, SOX and future processes, risks and controls that impact the reliability of financial statements.
• Managing expense reporting process.
• Support finance projects and strategic change initiatives.
• Assist tax teams as needed on annual tax filings, transfer pricing, BAS, FBT, NA Tax, ESL.
• Partner and engage with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders including outsourced partners, regulators, audit, tax etc.
What we’re looking for:
• Degree in Accounting and or Finance and Qualified CA, ACA, CPA or equivalent
• Proven experience with relevant work experience in the insurance industry.
• Audit background highly regarded
• Strong knowledge of insurance accounting specifically in AASB 1023, IFRS 4/IFRS 17, with exposure or knowledge of USGAAP reporting an advantage
• Problem solving, skilled at performance metrics, financial analysis and financial reports that guide decisions and drive business performance
• Excellent leadership and communication skills and ability to engage people, with sound commercial judgment and strong Business Acumen
