As a Registered Health Care Professional working in immunisations, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering a safe and effective service for all vaccination programmes The post holder will undertake activities such as: clinical assessment, dilution and drawing up of the vaccine from multi dose vials and post vaccine observations support.The post holder will be responsible for: The various vaccination settings.Conducting clinical assessments.The review of complex medical histories and potential adverse reactions.Preparation of the vaccine prior to administration by the Immunisers.DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Job PurposeDeliver vaccinations to all eligible clients and assist with the overallcoordination of the site activity and day to day delivery of thevaccination programme which at times will involve working over a 7 dayperiod to meet the needs of the serviceEnsure vaccination settings and equipment are available at the start of eachsession.Conduct pre-vaccination clinical assessments to confirm the correctvaccination, obtain consent agreement and provide advice on anycontra indications and ensure that the client receives postvaccination advice.Address any concerns that may arise regarding the vaccine and contraindications with clients.Review medical histories and address any potential adversereaction risks; provide clients with information on what to do inthe event of adverse reactionsAssist with the configuration of the vaccination station:a) Confirmation and recording of clinic setup (in terms of layout andequipment)b) Confirmation and recording of required vaccine stocks, PPE and vaccineconsumablesc) Confirmation of availability for sanitisation materials and waste/clinicalwaste receptaclesAssist with the configuration of vaccine station (as per the GreenBook): vaccine, vaccine batch, staff member administratingvaccination, date and site confirmationEnsure vaccine preparation (drawing-up, ensuring correct storage andproviding pre-prepared syringes to the vaccination station)Assist and support the vaccination delivery (ensure national guidelinesare respected regarding PPE, clinical and non-clinical waste,sanitisation)Ensure that the latest PPE guidance is followed.Work in partnership with clients and carers, gaining consent, and treatingall with reassurance, empathy, professionalism and handling difficultconversations, including adhering to safeguarding policy and procedures,multi-agency collaboration when clients with complex needs arepresentedCoordinate the infection control and waste disposal, ensuring that allactivities are adhered to the highest health & safety standardsEnsure the correct observation of the clients post-vaccination and offerany support they may need in case of adverse reactionsMinimise clinical risk by ensuring that staff are competent to performdelegated duties.
