This is an exciting time for SMG's Archives and Libraries with our new strategy setting out how our collections will be the best in the world in our fields: well-understood, well-housed and accessible (physically and digitally) and used effectively by us and others for research, display, learning and pleasure.
The Dana Research Centre and Library at the Science Museum, provides open access to around 7,000 books and periodicals covering the history and biography of science, technology, and medicine, as well as providing access to the Science Museum's rich collections of archives and rare books.
To support the library, we are now seeking a Senior Archive and Library Assistant to be based at the Science Museum in London, on a full time permanent basis.
About the role
This new role will work closely with the Science Museum Librarian, Systems and E-resources Librarian, Collections and Research and Public History teams to support the Science Museum's priorities, and the development and intellectual care of the collection. You will play a key role in providing access to Dana Research Centre and Library. You will be responsible for ordering and cataloguing library material, including for other sites, maintaining the public library space, and supporting access to archives and rare books.
