Responsibilities

• Assist in pre-contract documentations:
  • including taking-off of tender, follow up on tender, lead on cost study preparation, gather sub-contractors’ and suppliers’ quotations.
• Assist in post-contract documentations ：
  • including taking-off of project
  • calculate the quantities of the material before purchase
  • including compilation of sub-contractors quote, 
  • preparation of cost study for every trade involved in the contract
  • preparation of Letter of Award for sub-contractors
  • preparation of progress claim
  • verification of sub-contractors claim
  • issuance of sub-contractor’s certificate of payment.
  • preparation of variation orders quotation and settlement of final account.

Requirements

• Candidate must possess  at least Diploma in Quantity Surveying (QS)
• Above 5 years working experience in Structural, Architecture and ID industry

Job Responsibilities:

• To assist the Contracts Manager to carry out pre-contract and post-contract activities.
• Familiar with tender exercise in main Contractor's environment, handles tender & contract submission.
• To liaise with the client and other construction professionals, such as Site Managers, Project Managers, Site Engineers, Suppliers and Sub-contractors to complete the whole process of tendering and contracts.
• To handle pre-contract administrative works - preparation and compilation of tender documents for submission.
• To forecast the cost of the different materials needed for the project.
• To track changes to the design and/or construction work and adjust budget projections accordingly.
• To manage Project procurement, progress, budgeting and costings.
• To produce or agree the services of contractors and/or subcontractors who work on the construction of the project measure and value the work done on site.
• To select and/or source construction materials and arrange deliveries to relevant locations.
• To prepare Progress Claims, Certified Payment and Invoicing.
• To undertake other duties and responsibilities as instructed by Management.

 

 
Requirements:

• Degree/Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Building Construction or any equivalent.
• Preferably with more than 3 year(s) of experience in a construction or related field.
• Preferably those with experience in pre-qualification exercise, tender bids and preparing quotations.
• Has basic knowledge in contractual matters.
• Good written & verbal communication skills and computer literate.
• Positive working attitude and self-motivated.
• Detail oriented and prompt in documentation work.
• Must be a team-player and has a positive attitude in facing challenges. 
• Able to interact with people of all levels and teamwork.
• Applicants ideally able to converse in verbal and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Job Summary:

As an M&E QUANTITY SURVEYOR, you play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial aspects of electrical construction projects. Your responsibilities encompass estimating, budgeting, and cost control throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring it stays within budget while meeting quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cost Estimation:

- Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical projects based on project specifications.

- Analyze project requirements to determine accurate cost projections.

2. Budgeting and Cost Control:

- Develop and manage project budgets, monitoring expenditures for adherence to constraints.

- Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose value engineering options.

3. Quantity Takeoff:

- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs of electrical materials, labor, and equipment for each project phase.

4. Tendering and Procurement:

- Assist in preparing tender documents and evaluating bids from subcontractors and suppliers.

- Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers for favorable terms.

5. Contract Management:

- Administer contracts, including reviewing contractor invoices, change orders, and payment applications.

- Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.

6. Cost Reporting:

- Generate regular cost reports and financial status updates for project stakeholders.

- Track and report on project variances, providing recommendations for corrective actions.

7. Risk Assessment:

- Identify and assess potential financial risks associated with the project, implementing risk mitigation strategies.

8. Documentation:

- Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including financial transactions and correspondence related to costs.

9. Quality Assurance:

- Collaborate with project teams to ensure electrical work meets quality standards and specifications.

10. Client Communication:

- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders on cost-related matters.

 

Qualifications:

•  Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
• Professional certifications in Quantity Surveying (e.g., RICS) or relevant industry associations preferred or SPM as fresh graduate students
• Proven experience as an Electrical Quantity Surveyor in construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and construction methods.
• Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy.
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations in the construction industry.

Skills and Required Experience: 


Have a minimum of five years’ experience

Ability to complete all survey Prep/Calcs
Understanding of construction process
Experience in providing client whether it may be an architect, engineer, project manager etc. on advice in relation to design or build from your findings 
Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
Experience in drafting (Auto Cad)
Have the ability to problem solve and effectively communicate with clients 
A minimum of a Diploma/Degree in Surveying or Engineering
