• Assist in the worksite implementation of Occupational Health & Safety Requirements.
• Follow all legal requirements on the project site. Notify supervisors and the ProjectManager of any health and safety issues as needed.
•  Conduct periodic site inspections to identify potential hazards to employee health and safety.
• Assist with evacuation and emergency exercises, as well as accident investigations on site.

• To assist in the reprocessing and distribution of medical and surgical reusable devices for use in patient.
• After a qualifying period the post holder will be expected to occasionally work on their own and participate in the on-call.

Decontamination Technician Band 2

Production Duties
1. Accurately checking back into the department instruments that have been used in patient operations, decontamination, inspection, assembly, packing, sterilisation and distribution. This will involve learning about the safety and operational aspects of machinery used in the departments.
2. To comply with all reasonable requests made by a Supervisor, Manager or designated Decontamination Technician.
3. To complete all paperwork correctly, legibly and on time. Particular attention is paid to accounting for each instrument / item on the Tray List / Pack Specification.
4. To inform a Supervisor when any raw material stocks are becoming low.
5. To actively participate in the appraisal system in accordance with Trust policy.

Here at Barts Heart Centre we have 10 cath labs that provide treatment for patients undergoing a variety of elective procedures, interventional, electrophysiology and TAVI. Our cardiac catheter labs also support our nationally recognised emergency heart attack, arrhythmia and structural pathways. We also provide specialist cardiology services for heart failure, endocarditis, grown up congenital heart and inherited cardiac conditions.

You will have an opportunity to rotate internally between Cardiology Intervention, Electrophysiology & Structural in order to develop a full range of skills and be supported with in house training.

We have created exciting opportunities for experienced Cath Lab nurses to develop clinically in advanced nursing practices such as Implantable Loop recorders Implantations and Nurse-Led Radial Access.

You will need significant experience in cardiology cath lab and be able to demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge. You will be expected to take an active role in helping us to continuously improve on our patient centred care.
