Job description

The Analyst will serve as a key member of the deal team in the underwriting, credit approval, and portfolio management; supporting the deal team by analyzing financial and operating data for trends in financial performance of companies and industries.  The Analyst will be involved in the initial screening of transactions, due diligence, credit approval, and negotiation of legal documentation. The Analyst will help assess BMO’s hold appetite across revolvers and term loans. Primary Function and Responsibilities

New Underwritings

• Use independent critical thinking skills to analyze historical financial performance, create Base/Stress case financial projection models, develop risks and mitigants, business strengths, and credit rationale for completing a transaction
• Work across groups to compile diligence lists and lead diligence calls with company management teams and other lenders
• Complete risk / return models for new deals
• Collaborate with colleagues on different teams (Leveraged Finance, Investment Banking Industry Coverage, Ancillary Product groups) on materials for committee meetings attended by senior leaders across the bank
• Address questions from the Investment Committee and Credit team to support new transactions

Portfolio Management

• Prepare concise credit analysis and other correspondence on a quarterly basis for certain Borrowers, and on an annual basis for all Borrowers

• Directly manage the annual review process, interim reviews, specified quarterly reports and resolution of exceptions.
• Maintains accurate documentation and ensure adherence to prescribed policies and procedures and overall safety of the Bank’s position.
• Leads the execution of operational programs; assesses and adapts as needed to ensure quality of execution.
• Acts as the daily sales contact for the client for sales related questions such as product information, pricing, implementation timeframes and requirements.
• Acts as the key sales contact with the client to gather the required detailed information necessary to move the sale forward in the process, including completing all necessary documentation.
• Provides assistance to the team in pre-sales such as pitch preparation and client research and preparation of prospect and client files for action by the Sales Professional Planning.
• Tracks implementation requests to keep the process on track with timelines, ensures accurate billing to clients.
• Tracks Internal reports and recommends improvements to sales support materials based on findings and feedback.
• Compiles pre-call and post call information packages by accessing internal systems and bank personnel to validate client holdings, pricing, and volumes.
• Provides research and data gathering to sales team to facilitate solution to the client’s/prospect’s business and needs.
• Assists with sales and service administration and processing ensuring client experience is seamless and opportunities are identified and met.
• Maintains current client information on Bank system/files to ensure client history is accurate and complete.

JOB PURPOSE

This position in Mid Corporate Banking Underwriting and Portfolio Management will support both the underwriting of new transactions and managing the portfolio of existing loans for the CIBC Bank USA Mid Corporate Banking team.  The Mid Corporate Banking strategy focuses on credit and capital markets solutions for publicly traded and large private companies.  This role will have direct interaction with the entire Mid Corporate Banking team and the bank’s internal partners to deliver credit solutions to clients while minimizing losses and maintaining compliance with credit policies. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Underwriting and Originations Support

• Support the new transaction underwriting process with involvement in the end-to-end deal process from originations to closing
• Actively participate in origination process (pre-underwriting) and support prospecting activities
• Participate in meetings with prospective clients and/or agent banks during underwriting to ensure full understanding of client business, trends, risks and financials.
• Prepare financial models, perform due diligence on industry and company performance and analyze trends; summarize and draw conclusions from the analysis
• Timely and accurate delivery of underwriting products (pre-screen, Loan Presentations)
• Provide support to relationship managers in cross-sell opportunities and initiatives
• Provide support in the loan closing process
• Support business development activities through preparation of marketing materials, prospect analysis and industry and client research
• Work closely with the team (Group Head, Portfolio Managers and Relationship Managers) and actively participate in moving new business and modification requests through the credit approval process and discussion with Credit Risk.
• Mentor and train rotational analysts

Portfolio Management

• Actively monitor, manage and mitigate portfolio risk related to assigned portfolio by monitoring clients' operating performance and financial condition.
• Ensure accuracy of risk ratings and timeliness of risk rating upgrades/downgrades and approvals.  Research industry and economic analysis to inform risk ratings
• Ensure adherence to CIBC corporate credit policy, commercial banking credit procedures and guidance from auditors and regulators
• Minimize and clear document exceptions
• Timely and accurate completion of periodic reviews (annual, quarterly, etc.) for assigned portfolio
• Support the credit review processes (CAMP, LL, etc..) for assigned portfolio
• Summarize key updates for internal and/or external discussion and advise on credit actions (structure, waivers, modifications etc.) 

Qualifications

• Min. 1-2 years of experience in banking or finance
• Completion of formal Credit Training (credit training may be provided for the right candidate)
• College Degree / Business, Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Economics preferred
• Demonstrated proficiency in the understanding of commercial loan transactions including the credit approval process, credit risk identification and loan structuring.
• Ability to work within deadlines and outside of regularly scheduled hours as needed
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products with advanced knowledge financial analysis and modeling.

Summary of the role

Treasury is seeking a Treasury Senior Associate to work as an integral member of the Corebridge Treasury team.  In this role, they will be responsible for supporting treasury transformation initiatives and business processes; collaborating with key stakeholders to design and implement best-in class payment solutions, evaluate and leveraging industry innovations to maximize efficiency, controls and to exceed customers’ expectations.

About the role

Primary responsibilities include:

• Partner and collaborate with key stakeholders and industry partners to understand and define the payments strategy, process, and solutions.
• Drive the design and implementation of cash management solutions for all business segments of the company with focus on controls, efficiencies, and customer expectations.
• Support the treasury team in payment oversight, controls, issue investigation and resolution. Analyze risk events to explore opportunities for improvement.
• Provide subject matter expertise for the treasury and payment processes to business and IT leads.
• Maintain a strong relationship with financial institutions and consulting teams to advance the treasury initiatives and goals.
• Manage payment exceptions, escalate, and coordinate resolutions.

What we are looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field. An advanced degree or certification such as a CTP (Certified Treasury Professional) would be preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Treasury, Banking Services and/or Treasury Operations required. 
• Exceptional organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, manage expectations, and meet deadlines.
• Extensive knowledge of Treasury and payment industry products, best practices, and processes
• Self-starter and quick learner with excellent communication skills.
• Experience with change management or transformation initiatives
• Ability to analyze data and events with an attention to detail and focus on resolutions.
• Ability to develop strong working relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred technical skills:

• Payment settlement, workflow, lifecycle, and controls
• Working knowledge of payment clearing networks and payment formatting (XML ISO20022, BAI, SWIFT)
• Experience with treasury management systems; working knowledge of SAP S4/HANA
• MS Office Suite (particularly MS Excel and MS PowerPoint)
