Research and Development is responsible for developing deep scientific and technical expertise, novel process development, product development and experimentation capability. Responsibilities
Working in Shell’s global center of expertise for Biotechnology, you will need to demonstrate a commitment to HSSE and to develop a culture where safety is paramount.
Ensure the lab facilities integrity and controls around working with microorganisms and GMOs (e.g. sterile technique, sterilization methods) in accordance with the strict requirements of a BSL2+ lab.
Plan and execute experiments in one or several areas, including: (i) microbial characterization and development for bioprocesses, (ii) metagenomic analysis, (iii) mapping and spatial tool development, (iv) bio-feedstock development, and (v) carbon reduction opportunities leveraging biology.
Experience in hands-on micro-biology lab work, including data analysis, presentation and report writing.
Handle basic and repetitive activities or moderately complex tasks. Deals with issues/questions of relatively low complexity, checks correctness of data and adjusts with limited number of sources of information within business supported.
Works within standardized work instructions and routines, work is closely supervised by manager; complex items are handed over to a senior colleague/Project Lead. Works under supervision of a Project lead or own manager.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in teams. Designing and contributing to experimental test programs.

The annual rate for this position is $57,600 Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
