Your new job as a Construction Client Service Director will be working for a specialist Independent Lloyd's Insurance Broker with offices based around the UK to include the City, Watford and the Southeast who provide, unparallel services to meet client demands and needs. They have more than 100 staff across the offices and are looking to expand that number further. Due to substantial growth within the Construction team a position for a Construction Client Service Director with UK Construction ( CAR) and related risks has arisen.


Your new role
Your new role will be working as Construction Client Service Director based within their London offices will be hybrid working 3 days in the office, (the rest from home) . You will be responsible for fully servicing a book of Construction clients, as well as try to encourage growth plans for your allocated client portfolio by cross selling new and renewal business. Dealing with your clients from inception to completion alongside Account Executives and Account Handlers. Your new role will also include developing and enhancing relationships with key insurers and underwriters and work closely with the other divisions in forging long-term relationships with existing and new clients. This role will also include advising on existing products. This is an all-encompassing Client Director role which is very client centric and will require your Technical and Account management experience to work as part of an established Construction team in looking after your allocated clients and helping to grow the business,

What you'll need to succeed
Your previous experience working as a Senior Construction Account Executive or Client Director with CAR experience will contribute to your success in securing this role. Experience of working to multiple priorities and working across a range of tasks Educated to Good standards ( i.e. A Level or equivalent) or enough experience in a previous role to demonstrate suitable skills and ideally minimum Cert CII qualified.

The Utilities business are the preferred contractor on two of the largest energy infrastructure projects within the Australian energy sector, one of these projects is located in Queensland and the other in New South Wales.

These two exciting opportunities secure a pipeline of work until 2027 and include the design & construction of new transmission lines and substations.

This exciting project will commence construction in 2024 and we are currently looking for an experienced Construction Director to join the team. The role will initially be based in Sydney. Relocation is a possibility.

What are we looking for you to bring to the team:

15-20 years experience in the management of HV Transmission Lines construction projects from the contractor side
Proven experience in leading teams through the delivery of large scale commercial construction projects
Advanced financial and commercial management.
Strong contractual, commercial, IR and compliance management experience
Knowledge of OHS and Environmental legislation, Codes of Practice and Standards as they apply to the construction industry
Strong background dealing with contractor organisations and enforcing compliance with HSEQ performance measures

Gransolar Construction Australia Pty Ltd has successfully tendered for the construction of several solar farms across Australia. Gransolar will provide Engineering, Procurement and Construction services on these important Australian renewable energy projects.

We are currently looking for a PROJECT DIRECTOR as part of our Wellington Solar Farm (NSW) Project.
The PROJECT DIRECTOR is responsible for the management and operations of the Project, the delivery of the Works in accordance with the EPC Contract and the representation of the Project to the Client; and authorized to make day to day operating decisions.

The PROJECT DIRECTOR is responsible for the successful delivery of the Project and efficient management of the Project’s affairs, in particular:

i. Supervising Superintendents in the monitoring construction progress and continuously reviewing the program;
ii. ensuring the Project is delivered in accordance with the Budget;
iii. ensure proper and efficient interface between design and construction;
iv. regularly liaise with the Quality Manager to ensure the Project’s quality compliance; and
v. regularly liaise with the HSE Manager to ensure the Project’s HSE compliance.

The PROJECT DIRECTOR is further responsible for managing all upstream and downstream contract administration activities, the procurement function and overseeing all legal and contractual claims, commitments and related activities.

The PROJECT DIRECTOR will:
i. develop the procurement strategy in cooperation with Procurement Manager and Planner;
ii. define staff mobilization/demobilization;
iii. prepare monthly financial reporting in cooperation with the Cost Controller and Planner;
iv. lead the monthly and weekly meetings with Client and subcontractors;
v. Prepare the weekly and monthly reports as per the EPC contract reporting;
vi. provide monthly reports on:
- risks and opportunities and track usage of project contingencies;
- on status of any contractual claims working in coordination with planner and contract/commercial manager;
- the status of subcontractor and major supply commercial status in coordination with Logistic Manager and Procurement Manager; and
- the progress of the Works, including any significant events and matters regarding the EPC Contract
vii. develop the design and construction strategy;
viii. liaise with Key Personnel to understand safety and quality issues, human and plant resourcing requirements and environmental matters in relation to the Site and the Works;
ix. Approve the subcontractor´s invoices once they have been reviewed by Superintendents;
x. Along with the Superintendents and Planner Manager, review the performance and compare it with the program of works;
xi. Support in the preparation of the monthly Payment Application with all the supportive documentation; and
xii. on a day to day basis, inform the Contract/Commercial Manager about any potential issue, delay, disruption, contractual claims from any subcontractor or to the Client
The position is full time (38 hours).

Location is Wuuluman, NSW (2820).

Qualifications in Engineering required. Additional Qualifications within Management highly desirable.

At least 10 years experience in similar Project Management role(s) is required, with experience within the renewable energy sector highly desirable.

Responsibilities for this role include.

• Communicate with Owners, Partners, Representatives, Architects and Consultants;
• Optimize job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-contractors through quotations for material/services;
• Coordinate bid preparation requirements with the Contract Administrator;
• Interface with Owner and other contractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility;
• Prepare budgets, subcontracts, purchase orders and assist in preliminary project schedules;
• Ensure proper project hand off if project is taken over by another PM/Team;
• Review proposal specifications, drawings, soils reports and existing site conditions to determine scope of work;
• Mentor and manage Junior Estimators as assigned;
• Estimate Indirect cost including management, construction equipment and tools, support facilities;
• Review all proposals internally before being submitted to Owner and/or General Contractor;
• Review incoming structural concrete bid invitations to determine whether to bid the project;
• Lead and/or support successful competitive bid projects, lead design-build pursuits and Target Value Delivery opportunities;
• Engage in proposal presentations as necessary;
• Skills in interpretation of the tender and the application of the commercial and contractual agreement both at Head Contract and Sub Contract Level
• Skills in establishing cost code / work breakdown structure and competent contractual, commercial and legislative compliance skills
• Good knowledge of commonly used head contract conditions
• Ability to assess cost impact of contract conditions
• Ability to contribute to the development and/or revising strategic direction for projects or programs

• Multi-discipline estimating experience desirable
• Interpreting specifications and standards & assess the impact on project cost
• Accuracy on assessment of supplier and contract quotes
• Skills in relevant computer software packages
• Excellent communication skills with a strong math aptitude
• Experience in major civil infrastructure, underground design and build a must
• Proficient with Excel spread sheets
• Strong business communication and leadership skills

Annual salary package: $275 - $350K
