We have an opportunity for you to join our Oncology Services here at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust as a Macmillan Colorectal Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist.

We are looking for a dynamic, inspirational and forward thinking nurse who is passionate about cancer nursing and has the ability to drive this Service forward. You should have extensive experience in Oncology as well as having excellent leadership, management and communication skills.

The post holder will play a key role in ensuring high standards of care for all patients and will be an integral key member in the co-ordination and organisation of colorectal cancer pathways, throughout treatment, symptom management, relapse, emergency admissions and living with and beyond cancer. You will also work in a consultancy capacity across our Trust and local health care services.

The post holder will act as an autonomous nurse specialist and will develop and deliver nurse led services within colorectal cancer. This will include telephone, face to face activity and inpatient reviews.

Ward nurses will offer support to adolescents struggling with tobacco use, alcohol use, drug use, and mental health concerns. Our nurses advocate for the YP on the ward and for policies that will help improve adolescent health overall, and support YP who are struggling with sexual identity. We are also establishing pathways to look at the complicated issues around transition to adult service provision and making sure this process and journey is smooth and consistent for everyone involved. Experienced Band 5 Development Nurse- On completion of all the required competencies and once transferred into the Band 6 role, you will be required to lead the ward team, demonstrating excellent organisational, clinical skills, and ensuring focus is on delivering high quality evidence-based care to the child and family, assuring UHCW NHS Trust Values and objectives always remain central. The post holder will initially be expected to work as part of the adolescent team, learning the dynamics of the Adolescent specialism. We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Physiotherapist support the development and high quality provision of therapy within the Medicine team at UHCW.

We are looking for someone who has substantial and recent experience within an acute medical setting. You would be the lead clinician responsible for the team’s assessment, acute rehabilitation and timely onward referral of medicine patients including, but not limited to those with respiratory, cardiology, endocrinology, oncology and renal conditions. Main purpose of the role The Lead Nurse will form part of the senior management team within the service, working closely with the Service Manager and Lead Doctor to provide and develop high quality clinical service provision, with specific responsibility for Nursing Services. Reporting and working relationships The role will report directly to the Services manager, who will provide operational line management and supervision. Ensure that the services clinical model is functioning, effective and in line with CGL policy and national guidance. Implement/maintain an immunisation and vaccination scheme to help combat blood borne virus (BBV) and other infectious diseases and provide advice and information to other professionals on BBV and the care of individuals with drug and alcohol issues. To ensure all programmes, i.e., immunisation programmes, are adequately staffed so that contractual requirements are always met.
