The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Senior Air Reserve Technician (ART) Officer with overall supervision and management of either an Aircraft Maintenance Squadron , a Maintenance Squadron , an Equipment Maintenance Squadron or a Component Maintenance Squadron at an Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) unit-equipped or associate unit.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the squadron. Manages assigned maintenance resources and ensures production meets operational requirements and technical standards. Recommends procedural and technical improvements and modifications.
2. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities to include personnel and position management, equal opportunity, security, and safety. Advises employees regarding policies, procedures and directives of management. Maintains sound positions management practice when determining types and numbers of positions to support the organizational mission.
3. Represents organization with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Meets with key customers and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain organization policy and procedures, and resolves significant problems that arise.

The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) work leader and aircraft Dedicated Crew Chief over a crew of three or more workers/mechanics.

DUTIES:
1: Serves as a Work Leader/Dedicated Crew Chief of assigned aircraft, responsible for effectively coordinating and/or overseeing maintenance, troubleshooting, positioning, appearance and servicing of the aircraft.
2: Performs and/or oversees aircraft inspections including preflight, post flight, phase, acceptance, and other scheduled and unscheduled inspections.
3: Provides technical supervision on production matters to all employees assigned to the crew/team, which may include active duty, ARTs, civilians, and others.
4: Enforces and complies with safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area.
5: Leads verification and certification of work processes and procedures and adequacy of work accomplished by qualified mechanics and trainees.

THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE PERMANENT POSITION

The primary purpose of the AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC LEADER, WL-8602-10, is to lead three or more subordinates in the performance of aircraft engine mechanic work. In addition, duties include journey level work, which involve the inspection, repair, modification, and servicing of jet aircraft engine systems and components, turboprops, small gas turbines, propellers, and propulsion assemblies both on and off aircraft.

May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.

• Lead and work with a team of civilian employees, primarily Aircraft Mechanics, also includes Aircraft Ordnance and Electrical system Mechanics, and/or Integrated Avionics mechanics.
• Personally perform or lead others in the performance of ground handling and servicing of assigned aircraft.
• Personally perform or lead others in maintaining aircraft and maintenance records.
• Conduct training sessions under formal organized training programs designed to update, extend, and/or improve the skills or to cross-train full performance level aircraft mechanics to an intermediate skill level on associated systems.
• Personally perform and lead others in the performance of functionally testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and configuring a variety of, test, pre-production, aircraft and armament systems, sub-systems, and components.

• Lead and work with a team of civilian employees, primarily Aircraft Mechanics, also includes Aircraft Ordnance and Electrical system Mechanics, and/or Integrated Avionics mechanics.
