Position Description
The Anoka County Finance & Central Services Division enriches the community by providing quality services and assuring financial integrity in an environment of honest, diligence, and respect. Currently we are seeking an intern to assist with various projects. In this position, you will be an essential team member within the Finance & Central Services Division, which is central to the Anoka County mission component of fiscal responsibility.
This position is for you if you are contemplating a career in government, are a self-starter who likes to be challenged and who has excellent technical skills. Projects planned are around the budget process and data analytics. In addition, we are currently working on a Financial and Procurement system conversion. Other project opportunities may be available related to this project.
This is a temporary full-time, non-exempt, internship position is located at the Anoka County Government Center. The employment period for this internship will be flexible between May - August, 2024 and will provide up to 12 weeks of full-time, 40 hours of work. The work schedule is primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Interviews will take place as applications are received.

Pay and Benefits
- Salary: $21.00 per hour
- 2024 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 26: $20.49 - $24.07 per hour.

Work Location
- This position will work at Anoka County Government Center, located at 2100 3rd Avenue, Anoka, MN 55303.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Associate Accountant - Finance Intern.
- Participate in strategic planning conversations and activities within the Finance & Central Services division.
- Assist with developing high level multi-year forecasting analysis.
- Assist with the development and analysis of the County Capital Budgets.
- Learn how to create and assist with presentation documents related to budget.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
- Undergraduate student who has completed their sophomore year and is pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, or other closely related field.
- Attending an accredited four-year college.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to analyze situations and determine the best course of action.
- Skill in utilizing computerized spreadsheets, presentation documents, and systems.
- Knowledge in using problem solving techniques and strategies.

Anoka County has determined that successfully passing a pre-employment criminal/driving background check, drug screen and DOT physical, and/or other qualifications checks may be necessary for certain positions. Applicants may be required to sign an informed consent form allowing the County to obtain to conduct such screenings and/or verify their qualifications in connection with the position sought. Applicants who do not sign the informed consent form will not be further considered for the position.
As required by federal law, Anoka County must conduct a query of driving records in the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse as part of the pre-employment process for CDL drivers (§382.701 Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.). While Clearinghouse registration is not required, you will need to be registered to provide electronic consent for Anoka County to run a full query of your driving record in the Clearinghouse. Failing to provide consent to a query will result in a driver being prohibited from performing any safety-sensitive functions for Anoka County
