Job Description

The Heart Failure Therapy Specialist provides technical, clinical, educational and sales support to ensure safe adoption and growth of the Abbott Heart Failure technologies. The Heart Failure Therapy Specialist works closely with implanting teams and the broader Heart Failure organization to drive procedural and practice success.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Provide clinical expertise for current Heart Failure and targeted centers. Provide technical support in accordance with the instructions for use/trial protocol, and best-practices to facilitate procedural consistency and best clinical outcomes.
• Provide support for site performance and facilitates safe growth. Assist in education and training activities with physicians, support staff and Abbott personnel. Stays abreast of and communicates clinical data regarding Heart Failure products.

• Coordinate/deliver/implement programs and resources at the local level to facilitate market expansion and Heart Failure therapy access.
• Provide market intelligence for fine-tuning of therapy training and expansion plans.
• Oversee local education and training activities including coordination and set up procedure simulators, facilitation of simulated Heart Failure procedures and procedural troubleshooting, and coordination and facilitation of staff in-services to include pre/peri/post Heart Failure procedures. Develops and maintains comprehensive clinical and technical product knowledge. Understands current published Heart Failure and relevant literature. Recognizes and understands competitive products, industry trends, and Heart Failure portfolio.
• Liaison with marketing for technology improvements and next generation needs. Complete administrative reporting as assigned.
• Exercises judgment in planning and organizing work; monitors performance and reports status.
• Uses best business practices to ensure success and cost effectiveness in areas of responsibility.
• Ensures employee compliance with Abbott policies and practices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required

·Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field (RN, BSN, PA, NP) or equivalent/related experience

·3-5 years clinical Heart Failure experience or equivalent

· A comprehensive ability to analyze and evaluate technologically complex devices

The Opportunity

This Senior Clinical Education Specialist (Sr CES) for Heart Failure role is based in Charlotte.

The Sr CES works under general direction, provides advanced clinical, sales, educational and technical support in response to complex field inquiries from physicians, health care professionals, patients, and field sales staff, involving HF products. Performs work that involves a high degree of independence. Identifies and routinely uses the most effective, cost efficient and best business practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness. Exercises independent judgment in planning, organizing and performing work; monitors performance and reports status to manager. Technical proficiencies and performance are at the experienced level of all Clinical Education Specialists in the region.

What You’ll Work On

• Acts as a senior clinical interface between the medical community and the business.
• Demonstrates ability to build and sustain credible business relationships with customers and shares product expertise accordingly.
• Identifies reports and advises of customer needs, product performance and potential sales opportunities to sales representatives / directors and/or management to influence sales growth and service of accounts.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a science field OR non-science field with healthcare experience required.
• Requires ability to become certified on Heart Failure products.
• A minimum of four plus years increasingly responsible experience in cardiac or heart failure related industries.
• Demonstrated knowledge of cardiology, heart failure, or cardiac cath lab procedures.
• Familiarity with cath lab and operating room procedures and protocol. Demonstrated advanced knowledge of hemodynamics is also necessary.
• Must apply critical thinking skills and abilities to interpret and solve complex clinical problems.
• Must have comprehensive written and verbal communication, interpersonal, presentation, analytical, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Must have the ability to concentrate on detail and work independently.

The laboratory of Dr. Sean Morrison at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Research Specialist II. Sean Morrison wants to understand the mechanisms that regulate stem cell self-renewal and how cancer cells hijack these mechanisms to enable tumor formation. To do this, Morrison and his team compare the processes by which stem cells and cancer cells replicate themselves. They are also studying the influence of aging on these processes. A more detailed understanding of these mechanisms has the potential to yield new therapies for regenerative medicine, by promoting stem cell self-renewal in the context of tissue injury, and in cancer, by inhibiting these mechanisms.
