Lead and responsible for the integrated team of Market Access and Government Affairs and being the strategic partner for local Government, Healthcare Institutes, Hospitals, Patients and Business Units to enable and improve market access of innovative therapeutic solutions for Edwards technologies and ensure the success of healthcare policy engagement.

How you will make an impact:

• 1. Oversight the development and execution of optimal patient access strategy for both public and private funding to ensure success of Edwards Lifesciences current and pipeline technologies.

• Ensure the access and evidence strategy to meet the public and private payers’ requirements and engage with local authorities to ensure successful implementation of market access and procurement strategies, from evidence submissions to advocacy activities, adapting JAPAC value propositions to local requirements.

• Navigate the current healthcare/government market access processes and influence key opinion leaders within the environment to change future rules and approaches.

• Engage influential conversations and represent EW's interest in an industry wide and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders (KOL, payers, Health Tech Assessment, government public/governmental affairs).

• Develop and plan in-country and regional market access projects and activities with accountability for successful completion of all project deliverables.

• Perform constant monitoring about the changes in the access policy related to funding environment and conditions for the Edwards Lifesciences portfolio.

• Be an internal expert on reimbursement of designated technologies and identify risks and opportunities for business planning processes.

• Understand internal and external access environment related to medical device, including competitive landscape and impact of government health policies on Edwards’s business, and devise plans to leverage or manage upcoming changes and trends.

• 2. Develop, coordinate and drive government affairs strategies for Edwards, balancing appropriate priorities across the Business Groups and aligning with overall business strategy and the threats and opportunities in the external policy environment.

• Map key government and other stakeholder relationships considering the strategy and priorities and drive a plan to build and sustain excellent relationships with those stakeholders.

• Build a professional network to track healthcare policy, legislation, regulations, and reimbursement trends. This includes government bodies, interest groups, payers, and medical societies.

• Position Edwards as a thought leader and reliable and credible partner to government officials who shape the health policy environment, through understanding government policy priorities and shaping and advocating Edwards strategies in relation to government priorities.

• Leverage Edwards global corporate and regional JAPAC resources, support and best practices to support country strategies, through proactive participation and engagement with JAPAC and Global government affairs teams and coordinating bodies.

• Lead and coordinate the overall engagement with country industry associations to ensure Edwards’ position maintaining strong leadership in appropriate industry associations and drives associations for effective policy advocacy on priorities of concern to Edwards.

• 3. Represent the country/regional market access and government affairs team to work in collaboration with JAPAC Public Affairs and Global Public Affairs, as well as cross-functional business partners on the special strategic partnerships/projects including, but not limiting to, regional evidence generation and dissemination, regional stakeholder engagements with regional/global institutions to drive value recognition and addressing common access challenges across countries.

What you'll need (Required):

• Bachelor's Degree in health-care related field Health-Economics, Bioscience (including Medicine, Pharmacy) Business, Political sciences and previous experience in reimbursement and/or health economics or healthcare policy.

About the Opportunity

The Assistant Director of Public Interest and Government (“Assistant Director”) is a full time position and will function as an integral part of the three-member Public Interest and Government Advising Team within the Center for Co-op and Career Development. The Assistant Director will provide comprehensive co-op advising, career advising, and professional development programming for law students seeking Public Interest and Government jobs, and for other law students as assigned. The work of the Assistant Director will fall primarily in three areas: (1) the co-op experience and post-graduate job search; (2) employer outreach, which includes developing and maintaining connections with public interest and government employers across the country and worldwide; and delivering programming related to the co-op/ post-graduate job search process; and (3) professional development programming. Additionally, the Assistant Director collaborates regularly with the greater law school community, including faculty, staff and student organizations. Student Advising: The Assistant Director supports students through all stages of their co-op experience and entry-level job process: individual planning sessions for application strategy, resume and cover letter review, job interview preparation, advice regarding co-op selection and post-graduate job applications. This position works closely with our co-op employers, who are our partners in helping our students grow professionally through the co-op process. Employer outreach: The Assistant Director develops relationships with new employers, helps them to identify placement needs, assists them during the placement process and provides guidance during the co-op on supervision questions. Program and Professional Development: The Assistant Director is responsible for delivering programs on range of topics, from interview preparation to substantive areas of public interest law. The Assistant Director also regularly creates communications to students, professional development materials and job search guides, employer support materials, and various office publications. Northeastern University School of Law's Center for Co-op and Career Development is both a student services and an employer relations office. As such, there are occasionally evening and weekend events that require staffing. The Assistant Director is expected to work as needed during evening and weekend events in order to support student networking and employer outreach. Responsibilities:

• Employer Support: Maintain relationships with public interest employers already engaged in the co-op program and conduct outreach to new public interest employers. Assist employers with the student placement process and provide support for issues as they arise during a co-op. Create and manage various employer communications.
• Programming and Communications: Create and execute various  programming for students about co-op and post-graduate job search process, interviewing, substantive areas of public interest law and on-campus interview programs Develop and execute timely communications to students. Create and manage various written materials.
• Special Projects and Operations Responsibilities: Work with Assistant Dean and Director of Public Interest on new initiatives and operations. Serve on law school wide committees, as appointed
• Student Support and Advising: Provide comprehensive co-op and entry-level job advising services to students. This includes advising students on co-op selection and entry-level job search strategy, reviewing resumes and cover letters, conducting mock interviews, providing guidance to students on co-op, and advising students on short and long-term long co-op and career planning. Maintain updated information about hiring trends in public interest law.

Qualifications:
 

The Assistant Director must have a J.D. and at least three years (five years is preferred) of professional experience in public interest or government law. Demonstrated experience in mentoring or advising law students or entry-level lawyers is strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds coupled with a commitment to supporting the career goals of a diverse student body. The candidate must have excellent verbal and writing skills and be technologically savvy and proficient in MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint. Fluency in social media avenues a plus. Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, a wide range of employers, and the internal law community is essential to success in this position.

Position Summary

The Public Policy Director will lead federal policy related to nuclear energy (including existing and advanced reactors) and renewable energy (e.g., solar, wind, offshore wind, hydropower), associated siting, permitting, trade and supply chains issues and other related matters that empower Duke Energy to accelerate its clean energy transformation. This includes working collaboratively with Duke Energy business partners to contribute to the company’s overall policy strategy and advancing Duke Energy priorities with key trade associations and coalitions as part of overall advocacy efforts.

The Public Policy Director will need to establish strong working relationships at all levels within key Duke Energy business units and collaborate with business partners and across external affairs and communications to identify federal public policy priorities and develop company positions. Position Summary

The Public Policy Director will lead federal policy related to natural gas supply and infrastructure, natural gas decarbonization (e.g., methane monitoring/regulations, carbon capture and storage), emerging fuels (e.g., renewable natural gas, hydrogen) and related matters that empower Duke Energy to accelerate its clean energy transformation. This includes working collaboratively with Duke Energy business partners to contribute to the company’s overall policy strategy and advancing Duke Energy priorities with key trade associations and coalitions as part of overall advocacy efforts.

The Public Policy Director will need to establish strong working relationships at all levels within key Duke Energy business units – including the company’s regulated electric utilities and natural gas business unit – and collaborate with business partners and across external affairs and communications to identify federal public policy priorities and develop company positions. Additionally, the Director will need to:

• Communicate external developments on the issue set in a timely and understandable manner to business units to effectively manage their strategic issues, business objectives and decision-making process.

• Maintain strong and effective working relationships with key trade associations/coalitions and advocate for company positions or communicate concerns to these groups (e.g., American Gas Association, Edison Electric Institute, Carbon Utilization Research Council, Clean Hydrogen Future Coalition).

• Develop and maintain strong and effective working relationships with other key stakeholders on relevant federal policy (e.g., think tanks and other NGOs/third parties).

• Represent Duke Energy at external forums/conferences to ensure that company policies and positions are effectively communicated and favorably impact the company.

• Anticipate, coordinate and conduct research in support of strategic policy initiatives and review/write analysis of federal public policy and related materials.

• Maintain strong working relationships across external affairs and communications, including collaborating with federal government affairs to support the company’s advocacy on relevant issues.

• Sustain Duke Energy’s culture of collaboration in promoting major strategic initiatives.

• Support the Managing Director of Public Policy in the facilitation of Duke Energy’s clean energy transition to net-zero carbon emissions.

Responsibilities

• Identifying and analyzing global and national opportunities and risks related to policy that have the potential to significantly impact Duke Energy’s bottom line; in coordination with key business units, pursuing clarity on the company’s position, then developing and executing strategic action plans to effectively manage risks and/or promote the company’s interests including leading and supporting cross-functional teams in anticipating, reviewing and responding to federal policy (to include legislation and regulatory rulemakings).

• Producing and executing strategic plans such that the company is deliberate, efficient and effective in its long-term relationships with key external stakeholders, such as industry groups, advocates, peer utilities and others who impact the opportunities and risks.

• Publicly representing and promoting the company and its interests (and/or ensuring appropriate representation, as needed) at meetings of policy stakeholders (e.g., stakeholder forums, panels, industry groups) and ensuring that such engagement aligns with company goals.

• Preparing senior executives for successful engagements with trade associations and other third-party stakeholders on federal policy.

Basic/Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public policy, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Business Administration or other related discipline

• In addition to required degree, seven (7) years minimum of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of the utility sector, energy policy trends and issues, and federal legislative and regulatory processes.

• Preferred B.A./B.S. degree in public policy, environmental sciences, natural resources, political science, engineering or business.

• M.S., MBA, MPP or equivalent experience.

• Prior experience in state or federal government policy related to natural gas and/or emerging fuels.

• Prior experience in state or federal government policy-related role or regulated utility operations.

• Demonstrates ability and flexibility to effectively manage and facilitate multiple projects and issues simultaneously.

• Demonstrates effective analytical, problem identification and resolution skills.

• Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision-making skills.

• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, including communication skills, presentation skills, conflict resolution and negotiation skills, and leadership skills.

Partnered with an Account Partner (Services Salesperson), the Pre-Sales Senior Principal/Director Technical Architect leads both pre and post-sales activities, acting as the technical authority across the portfolio of products and engaging other SMEs across the organization to develop and articulate comprehensive implementation proposals; this can include developing technical solutions to customer missions/objectives, sizing the effort/team size/team makeup/duration, identifying critical technical challenges: integrations, usability, security, data migration and third party solutions.
