Consultant Psychiatrist – General Adult Psychiatry, Lancaster and Morecambe (10 PAs)

This post is eligible for a 5% payment of basic salary payable over 2 years

We are seeking to recruit a substantive Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist to work with the Home Based Treatment Team (HBTT) in Lancaster and Morecambe. The post is full time and based at East Barn, Lancaster.

There will be an expectation to join the Consultant On Call rota, for which additional remuneration is payable.

Home Based Treatment Teams (HBTTs) are a multi-disciplinary team of mental health professionals providing a 24 hour, 7 day per week service to people experiencing a Mental Health (MH) crisis. HBTTs provide an alternative to hospital admission by providing intensive community based interventions. Where a hospital admission does occur, HBTT can assist in shortening the inpatient stay by facilitating early discharge and support back to the community. The consultant psychiatrist is expected to carry a compact caseload of the most complex and unstable cases, but will also be available at short notice to provide consultation and advice to other team members, although they are not required to act as care co-ordinator.

Applicants should hold full GMC registration and be included on the Specialist register of the GMC or they should be eligible for entry to the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date.

It is a requirement that applicants are Section 12 Approved at the time of commencing employment and have or are eligible to have Approved Clinician Status. Remuneration will be as set out in the terms of the New Consultant Contract according to previous experience.

Sanford Cardiovascular Institute is seeking a BC/BE Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist to join an integrated practice including a team of 9 cardiologists, 1 of which is Advanced Heart Failure Certified, and 3 Cardiothoracic Surgeons.
- The ideal candidate will participate in the development of a LVAD and ECMO program, the management of inpatient ECMO, LVAD, and cardiogenic shock, as well as have a robust general non-invasive cardiology practice including dedicated advanced heart failure and pulmonary hypertension

Eligibility Criteria for Initial Appointment:
Physicians trained in Cardiology fellowship programs may have variable levels of expertise in a variety of different areas, depending on the focus of their particular training experience. The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has defined the education, training, and experience necessary for many of these areas. The ACC 2008 Recommendations for Training in Adult Cardiovascular Medicine Core Cardiology Training (COCATS3) published January 22, 2008 are available at www.acc.org and was used as the foundation for the privileges in Cardiology. Additional information was obtained from the ACGME Program Requirements for Fellowship Education available at www.acgme.org and the Clinical Privilege White paper on Cardiology. Additional resources were used for procedures that cross specialty lines.

Successful completion of a hospital affiliated Internal Medicine residency program and completion of a fellowship in Cardiology accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada in the residency. The Credentials Committee; Physician Executive or Medical Affairs Committee; and the Board of Directors or the Board of Governors may consider training at residency or fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than the above.

Certification by the appropriate specialty /subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable. Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement. Level 1 (Cardiology) – Providers who will practice noninvasive cardiology and whose invasive activities will be confined to critical care unit procedures. Basic training required of all trainees to be competent consultant cardiologists.

Level 2 (Invasive Cardiology) – Providers who will practice diagnostic but not interventional cardiac catheterization. Additional training in one or more specialized areas that enables the cardiologist to perform or interpret (or both) specific procedures at an intermediate skill level or engage in rendering cardiovascular care in specialized areas.

Level 3 (Interventional Cardiology) – Providers who will practice diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization. Advanced training in a specialized area that enables a cardiologist to perform, interpret, and train others to perform and interpret specific procedures at a high skill level. Job Summary:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Patient Care. Performs initial and ongoing assessment of the patient, utilizing appropriate data (i.e. physical, psychological, educational and risk-screen data appropriate for the chronological / developmental age of the patient). Demonstrates clinical judgment in responding to priority patient needs.

• Education and Teaching. Assistance of teaching staff and patients to enhance a patient centered care model and the patients individual plan of care. Assist in the assessment and completion of required core measures.

• Clinical Resource. Serves as a role model and staff nurse support and resource for excellence in clinical care and the overall patient experience.

The Associate Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) reports to the Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer.  The ACNO is the Senior Nursing Leader accountable for one or more service lines within the Patient Care Services Division.  Has full responsibility for nursing operations, people management, strategic/clinical goals, and budget responsibility.

ATTRIBUTES

• BS in Medical Technology or BS in a related Science (Biology, Chemistry, or The Physical Sciences) and/or equivalent relevant experience as recognized by New York State Department of Education for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist. (NYS Dept of Education, Education Law, Title 8, Article 165, sub-parts 79-15; 9/23/8).
• Previous experience in a Clinical or Pathology Laboratory a benefit, but not required.
• Certification by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) preferred, but not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analysis & Reporting. Perform precise specimen analysis and report results accurately, following established procedures; recognize deviation from expected results, analyze and correct problems using scientific principles; complete QC Action Logs, preventative maintenance logs and pending lists daily
• Training & Development. Assist with training new personnel on responsibilities in the laboratory; evaluate progress of training; make recommendations for training methods and content
• Evaluation. Continuously assess work processes and make suggestions for improved work methods and ways to increase efficiency, reduce costs and solve operational problems; monitor departmental reagent inventories
