College of Design at Iowa State University is seeking a dynamic and innovative individual to join our faculty as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Game Design, to contribute to the development of a cross-college, cross-department Game Design undergraduate degree program. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the newly implemented game design program while contributing to the growth and success of our institution.
The successful candidate will develop and teach a variety of courses in game design, development, theory, and related subjects at the undergraduate level, ensuring alignment with industry standards and emerging trends. We encourage applicants with scholarly activities related to (but are not limited to) character design and animation for game engines. The successful candidate will work with other diverse cross-disciplinary faculty including faculty from departments of Art and Visual Culture, Graphic Design, Community and Regional Planning, History, Religious Studies, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business, and Music.
The exciting new game design program is the outcome of a partnership between the College of Design and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The program plans to offer a Bachelor of Science in Game Design that integrates three focus areas of:
1. Art and Interactive Media Design
2. Game Computing
3. Game Worlds, Narrative Design, and Society.
The program will emphasize team-based learning across many disciplines and close collaboration with industry partners.
The credentials of the selected candidate will be considered to determine the proper home department for faculty rank status in one of the following academic departments in the College of Design:
Architecture
Art and Visual Culture (AVC)
Community and Regional Planning (CRP)
Graphic Design
Industrial Design

Job Description:
Berklee College of Music is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Chair of the Electronic Production and Design Department. As one of the leading music technology programs in the world, Electronic Production and Design offers a curriculum that’s grounded in electronic music production, sound design, sound for visual media and immersive technologies, electronic music performance, new musical instrument design, and creative coding. We offer an undergraduate major (EPD), a Sound Design for Video Games specialization, an Electronic Digital Instrument (EDI) Principal Instrument Program, and an Electronic Performance major and minor. Our curriculum is based on the innovative use of technology, informed by practical applications of research in the field that prepares students for a broad range of careers.
The Electronic Production and Design Department includes 35+ faculty members. Many of the faculty provide classroom instruction and directed study specifically for EPD majors, while others teach music technology courses across the college, including the college core technology class that is taken by all Berklee students.
The Assistant Chair will work under the direction and supervision of the Chair and serve as an academic administrator within the Department. The ideal candidate should have advanced expertise in electronic music composition and/or sound design. Significant experience in new and innovative music technologies, modern electronic music production, modular synthesis, video game and immersive sound design, new musical instrument design, and creative coding is preferred.

Provide guidance to students regarding academic program options, course selection, and course planning, as well as offer career advice.
Facilitate communication with technical classroom support staff
Teach a minimum of one course per fall/spring semester
Participate in faculty hiring and mentoring to maintain the excellence and relevance of the academic programs.
Contribute to the development, review, and evaluation of the department’s curriculum to prepare students to thrive in their future careers
Cultivate and sustain an inclusive environment that embraces all community members irrespective of their identities, values diversity, and wholeheartedly welcomes a multitude of viewpoints.
Organize extracurricular events and activities to broaden students' learning experiences and foster a sense of community.
Facilitate Department-sponsored guest artists and events
Represent the department at advising and admissions events and other activities, to share information about the department’s programs, and create opportunities for collaboration within and outside the Berklee community.
Serve on department, division, and college committees to support Berklee’s mission and strategic goals.
Maintain professional engagement through relevant music, sound design, and/or new music technology fields

QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in music technology or a related field or equivalent industry experience
Substantial college or university teaching experience preferred
Administrative experience in higher education or the music industry preferred
Expertise in advanced electronic music production and sound design
Professional experience in a music technology-related field. Game sound or new music technologies, such as new musical instrument design experience preferred.
A record of industry engagement and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with music industry constituencies, organizations, and academic partners
Demonstrated interest in staying updated with educational trends, implementing new teaching methodologies, and contributing to curriculum development
Commitment to excellence in the education of new music technologists and a capacity to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, handle deadlines, and help to oversee departmental operations effectively.
A strong commitment to student advising, mentorship, and overall student success
Proficiency in administrative technology coupled with attention to detail

The position will be open until filled. This is a 12-month administrative position with a renewable contract.
