What’s the role?

The Instrument Design Engineer's prime focus will be to provide design support to projects, engineering, Maintenance and Turnaround department.

Your accountabilities will include:

• Preparation or managing EPC(Contractor company who provide engineering, procurement and construction of instrument project) resource for preparation of engineering drawings, specification, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, hook-up diagrams etc.
• Do field visits where necessary to collect site data for brownfield engineering
• Ensure engineering is fit-for purpose, compliant to standards (e.g. DEMs(Shell owned design engineering manual) and DEPs(Shell owned Design and Engineering practises))
• Support to a range of plant changes with completed error free execution work packs will be important element of the job
• Closely work together with e.g. process technologists, process engineers and process control technologists
• Ensure the quality of markup 'as-built documentation', timely updating of all documentation, managing SPI database

What we need from you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with the following:

• Graduated from EEE or Chemical Engineering
• At least 10 years of experience in refinery or petrochemical.

• Effective stakeholder management.

• Strong knowledge of Field Instrumentation and systems engineering.

We have a superb set of facilities that allow us to teach a hugely diverse range of subject areas in the Design and Technology Faculty. Any prospective technician would need to have a good knowledge of the standard machines we use within the teaching classrooms or be willing to undertake separate bespoke training that will help the candidate to fulfill their role.

Technical staff have responsibility in the faculty to work with the Faculty Leader and the Heads of Department to support the planning and delivery of the specific subjects mentioned above. You will be responsible for the upkeep and repair / daily maintenance of the machines and resources, as well as completing weekly Health and Safety checks.

The faculty has a vast array of materials and resources which the technician would upkeep as well as ordering and monitoring stock levels, along with the purchasing of new materials. Good IT skills are essential to the role.
You must have a strong desire to work with pupils of all abilities and to make a difference. There is an expectation that you will work with small cohorts of pupils and help them to develop the skills required to pass their respective courses on a regular basis.

We are a looking for a Structural/Civil Technician with a background in residential and commercial projects in the UK.

As a Structural/Civil Technician you will be skilled and familiar with AutoCAD, Revit and either PDS or Civils 3D.

The Opportunity

Our location in San Diego, CA currently has an opportunity for an Instrument Lead.  The person hired in this role is responsible for the instrument hardware design and the development of electro-mechanical aspects for our new point-of-care instrument platform. Reporting to the Head of Platform Design and New Technology, the successful candidate will translate customers’ input and commercial vision to technological parameters and product specifications in the instrument hardware design and development.

• Familiar with regulatory and clinical validation requirements for IVD products in US and international regions.

Required Qualifications

Location: Perth WA and onsite at various customer sites. You may be required to work onsite on a Rostered and Regularly. Recurring Fly-In/Fly-Out basis (RRR FIFO).

Key Responsibilities:

As an Instrumentation Systems Design Engineer at Mincka Engineering, you will be the technical leader in charge of the detailed engineering design and installation of industrial instrumentation systems that meet Australian and International engineering standards and customer requirements. Additionally, you will assist the asset integrity group create software solutions to display the measurement and data analysis to our customers. Additionally you will be responsible for:

Carry out detailed instrumentation systems design in adherence to hardware OEM requirements, Australian and International engineering standards and industry guidelines.
Develop out-of-the-box design solutions that integrate with OEM hardware and implement the necessary precautionary measures to avoid equipment damage.
Use state-of-the-art software simulation and analytical processes to verify the fitness for service and reliability of the design.
Design and draft Electrical, Instrumentation and Control systems for major capital projects that are managed by the business.
Complete drawings in layers of information that allow the retention of IP within the company and the sharing of information with field instrumentation technicians for installation and system commissioning.
Complete detailed bill of materials (BOM) with OEM branded references available in the Australian hardware market.
Create instrumentation systems installation, maintenance and commissioning packages with detailed verification checklists and performance standards to satisfy the designer’s requirements.
Conduct remote monitoring of instrumentation systems reliability and troubleshooting when a systems failure occurs.
Carry out engineering reports in accordance with the Scope of Work and the reporting standards.
Assist in the developing scope of works for contractors and engineering review of technical issues.
Provide support in the development of technical procedures and documentation of new processes related to the delivery of work.

Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you should have:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or a related field.
3 years of Instrumentation Engineering experience.
More than 8 years of proven experience in mining sector development roles as Project Engineer, Process Engineer, Automation Engineer, Maintenance Engineer and Control Systems Engineer.
Language proficiency in English is required. Spanish not mandatory but is desirable.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting complex control issues.
Knowledge of safety regulations and standards relevant to mining and industrial control systems.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
Familiarity with process industries such as mining, manufacturing, energy, oil and gas or utilities.
