Work Schedule: Mon - Thurs, 2:30pm to 5:30pm during academic year
Work with Upward Bound Math and Science students from Benson High School during our after-school tutoring program hosted at Citylight Benson Church. The Upward Bound Coach will provide academic support in all subjects, but especially in math and/or science. Additionally, the Upward Bound Coach will provide guidance, coaching, and goal setting to help students reach their academic and personal goals during the school year. Compensation $15.50/hr
Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions
Academic Year
Maintain complete confidentiality of student information and interactions.
Provide intensive and ongoing academic support in STEM subject areas at our after school program at Citylight Benson Church at least one day per week during the academic year between the hours of 3:00pm-5:30pm.
Use basic academic coaching techniques to advise students in their academic goals.
- Monitor student progress in these goals and assist the Assistant Director in appropriate academic follow up and resources needed to address ongoing student needs.
Attend orientation sessions and staff meetings as necessary.
Participate in student conferences and field trips as necessary.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Education
- Completion or near completion of Bachelor's Degree in a STEM subject area or other field related to program needs required.
Experience
- Coursework in STEM, education, counseling, or related field preferred.
- Prior experience working with people from a variety of educational, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds preferred.
License/Certifications
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to handle discipline issues and notify Coordinator/Assistant Director.
- Monitor students' academic progress and coach them to reach their educational goals as they move through the OPS curriculum.
- Ability to maintain complete confidentiality of student information and interactions.
- Ability to commit Monday-Thursday 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm at our Citylight Benson after-school program to support students academically.
- Ability to attend training sessions when needed.
- Flexibility in school or program cancellations. If Omaha Public Schools close, we will typically not have programming.
- Ability to help with general setup before programming and takedown after programming with the assistance of the program coordinator/ assistant director.
- Must have reliable transportation
