Clinical responsibilities: Manage and co-ordinate the care for patients referred for endoscopy. Be responsible and accountable for all elements of professional nursing practice. Safely prepare patients for any investigation and facilitate the patients journey until discharge. To perform diagnostic endoscopic procedures, and once trained and deemed competent, will also be expected to perform PEG / PEG-J, NG/J, and polypectomies. Ensure minimum number for endoscopic procedures for JAG accreditation are performed, and ensuring JAG / GRS key performance indicators are conducted in line with recommended standards. To keep training profile which is up to date on the JETS website.Ensure patient safely prepared for procedure and consent is achieved as per best practice, WHO checklist and in line with clinical governance. Possess the necessary understanding of endoscopic procedures and associated risks to enable valid patient consent to be gained.Administer procedural medication as required and/or indicated within PGD, or scope of independent prescribing. To perform biopsies and polypectomy procedures as deemed competent. To work within BSG and JAG guidelines. To undertake patient review with Clinical Lead / gastroenterologist as appropriate.
