Role purpose:
This is a new, diverse and dynamic role within ShelterBox’s high-performing Philanthropy & Partnerships Team. You will provide the essential tools to build and strengthen relationships with high-value supporters, driving an increase in high-level funding to reach more people impacted by disaster, conflict and climate change.
The successful candidate will support the Philanthropy & Partnerships team to identify and build new high-value relationships (with major donors, corporates, trusts and foundations), and to effectively steward those partnerships – ensuring funders feel valued, engaged and inspired to continue supporting ShelterBox’s life-saving work.
This role will also be crucial in growing our pool of potential supporters via targeted prospect research and network mapping. You will also be responsible for creating bespoke communications and engagement opportunities designed to engage, inform and inspire our growing pool of high-level donors.
Underpinning this, you will work with the team to establish and optimise necessary systems and processes to support best in class stewardship across all areas of our work.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a creative, collaborative and forward-thinking individual with strong writing and organisational skills. Ideally you will have some experience in a major giving fundraising team, although this is not an essential requirement.
The successful candidate will be a real team player, and will have an aptitude and interest in establishing processes to enable data-led decisions and driving efficiencies.
We’re looking for someone with experience in line management, or someone keen to learn how to develop and lead others to be the best they can be.
This position is perfect for someone looking for a varied role, working with stakeholders across ShelterBox in the UK and internationally. It is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to learn more about high-value gift cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, whilst working at an ambitious disaster relief organisation.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
Stewardship:
Build strong internal networks, particularly with ShelterBox’s International Programmes Department and Brand & Content team, to develop a range of compelling assets and materials to showcase our work, and engage and inspire high-value audiences.
Work collaboratively to produce high-quality bespoke reporting, in line with funder requirements, to demonstrate the impact of major gifts from philanthropists, corporate partners, trusts and foundations.
Develop, own and maintain the Philanthropy & Partnerships reporting calendar, and co-ordinate with fundraisers across the global ShelterBox network to share resources.
Support with the delivery of Philanthropy & Partnerships stewardship and cultivation events.
Work with the Philanthropy Manager and Philanthropy & Partnerships Assistant to deliver a calendar of engaging and emotive digital and postal communications and appeals for major donors, connecting them with ShelterBox’s work.
Support the Corporate Partnerships Manager to ensure ShelterBox’s private sector supporters receive high-quality account management, including supporting with delivering the unique engagement products ShelterBox has developed for corporate partners (such as the Disaster Response Escape Room).
Support with the stewardship of ShelterBox’s Philanthropy Advisory Board, working with the team on activities such as coordinating board meetings and events, producing briefings and ensuring board members receive first-class relationship management.
Work alongside the International Giving team to provide ShelterBox’s affiliates around the world with materials and tools to steward high-level donors.
Work with fundraisers to develop a strong understanding of ShelterBox’s high-value donors and their motivations in order to develop and deliver new and powerful ways to bring high-value supporters closer to ShelterBox’s work.
Support with preparations for, and delivery of, emergency fundraising activity in response to major disasters.
Research/pipeline:
Work with the Philanthropy & Partnerships Assistant and the rest of the team to drive forward activities to deliver a thriving high-value funding pipeline, including prospect research, prioritisation and network mapping.
Embed best practice use of the CRM database within the team, developing tools to analyse and review our prospect pool and how prospects are moved through the pipeline.
Support the Philanthropy & Partnerships team to make data-led decisions by working with the Philanthropy & Partnerships Assistant and Insight Managers to gather and analyse data and insight from donors about their experiences as supporters.
Keep abreast of fundraising and international development sector trends and developments.
General:
This role also has line management responsibilities – for the Philanthropy & Partnerships Assistant.
Represent ShelterBox positively at all times and reflect our organisational values – integrity, flexibility, participation and learning.
Undertake other reasonable duties as may be required.
Please Note: This job will start in January 2024.
