Tasks

examining and testing machines, equipment, instruments and control systems to diagnose faults
adjusting, repairing, and replacing worn and defective parts and wiring, and maintaining machines, equipment and instruments
reassembling, test operating and adjusting equipment
advising users of correct operating procedures to prevent malfunctions
installing electronic instruments and control systems
applying knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic principles in commissioning and maintaining control systems

Skills and experience

Applicants will need to possess recent experience in Electrical or Mechatronics background with trade/diploma qualifications and at least two years of work experience in the industry along with.

- Strong organizational skills.

Overview:

We are looking for a Fire Alarm Technician to join the team! In this role, you will handle fault finding and repairs for Fire Panel and other Alarm systems. This is a full-time ongoing position, working 38 hours per week based in Tempe, NSW.

Main tasks:

- Installing fire alarm systems in accordance with design specifications and safety standards.
- Identifying and resolving issues in fire alarm systems to maintain their proper functionality and safety compliance.
- Performing maintenance on fire alarm systems, including adjusting, repairing, and replacing worn or defective components, wiring, and equipment to ensure optimal functionality and reliability.
- Ensuring that all components are in working order, reassembling them after maintenance or repairs, and thoroughly testing the equipment to confirm proper functionality.
- Advising users on correct operating procedures to prevent system malfunctions and ensuring they understand how to use the fire alarm system effectively.
- Continuously monitoring the status of the fire alarm system, responding to alarms, and transmitting and receiving voice messages to coordinate emergency responses effectively.

Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience:

- Relevant Certificate III or IV, and at least a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; OR 3 years’ work experience in case of no formal qualification.

Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge:

- Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve system issues.
- Familiarity with the operation of fire alarm components such as smoke detectors, heat detectors, pull stations, and notification devices.
