OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT
The new Development Review Division of the Public Works Department is seeking Real Property Specialist Senior. The Real Property Specialist Senior is responsible for reviewing subdivision plats, site plans, legal descriptions for easements or license agreements and makes recommendations for revisions or approval.
This new Development Review Division has been created to consolidate Public Works development review including site plans, civil plans, traffic engineering and Real Property reviews with a focus on customer service and achieving or
exceeding performance metrics.
The city’s overall development process, spanning several city departments, is managed by the Office of Development Assistance (ODA), a division of the City Manager’s Office. ODA’s project managers are the liaisons between our development partners including initial department introduction meetings, development applications and planning approval, civil construction document review and approval and building construction document review and approval and permitting. Departments that are integral to the development review process include ODA, Planning and Development Services, Aurora Water, Parks Recreation and Open Space and both the Public Works Engineering Services Division and Building Division.

Reviews legal descriptions associated with subdivision plats and annexation maps, and makes recommendations for revision or approval

Reviewing building permits, site plans, and other real property exhibits

Your new role
Day-to-day responsibilities include but not restricted to the following:
* Assist with new business, preparing bids and quotes.
* Undertaking measurement and building surveys (residential and commercial)
* Undertaking Schedules of Condition and Awards for Party Wall matters
* Write specifications and prepare tender and contract documentation
* Provide Contract Administrator services on projects
* Chair project progress meetings and prepare minutes and progress reports
* Undertaking dilapidation surveys and preparing schedules
* Undertaking defect analysis surveys and preparing reports
* Preparing Licences to Alter
* Assist with Expert Witness matters and preparation of CPR35 reports
* Continued Business Development
What you\'ll need to succeed
* To have an RICS accredited Degree in Building Surveying
* To be a full member of the RICS (MRICS)
* Strong interpersonal skills with colleagues, clients and members of the public
* Good IT skills and a full working knowledge of Microsoft Office
* Have a keen eye for detail and strive to provide a quality service.
What you\'ll get in return
A generous salary, paying from £77,000 - £90,000 (depending on experience)

Your new company
You will be joining a Tier 1 contractor based in Derby working on a major water framework in the Midlands region. This multi-accredited organisation has a strong pipeline of work in the water sector and they offers excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development (including chartership). Due to continued success, they are looking to onboard a Quantity Surveyor to join their team to work on a range of infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects.
Your new role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will be based in their Derby office and be responsible for, but not limited to, negotiating and appointing subcontractors to schemes, managing subcontractor packages from appointment to final account, submitting all valuations and variations on schemes, providing monthly cost reports in line with project budgets as well as liaising with site teams.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you will hold a degree in Quantity Surveyor (or equivalent) and have good working knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 forms of contract. In addition, you will be computer-literate and be able to work independently and as part of a team. Previous experience working within the water sector is desirable. Finally, you will have strong organisational skills and interpersonal skills.
