Heating Design Engineer

The Company:
An innovative Heating Systems Development and Quality Engineer is required by this expanding heating systems company to maintain and further develop their existing and new products and systems. This is an exciting opportunity for somebody who can offer a technical understanding of theoretical and practical mechanical and electrical systems, including heating, plumbing or HVAC systems. This is a breakdown of the day to day role:
Quality Control existing product improvement: 35%
New product innovation/ development of new low temperature, low carbon solutions: 25%
Documentation updates (Adobe Illustrator & InDesign): 25%
Material cost down work (finding cheaper alternative items): 10%
2D/3D CAD design work: 5%
Full training will be given, but the ability to test and tailor systems will be essential.

Job Responsibilities:

- Contribute to project work as defined by the company’s New Product Development (NPD) programme and strategy whilst coordinating individual projects as required
- Investigate possible manufacturers/suppliers for partial or complete product supply
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of products and processes by highlighting weak areas and proposing improvements
- Carry out product/performance testing where required
- Take responsibility for ensuring that schematic system design drawings are correct whilst ensuring the correct practical application of engineering theory as it relates to UFH, heat pump and solar thermal system design calculations via the company design software.
- Generate or proof-read technical literature as required
- Assist with product training across all departments of the company as required

Preferred Skills:
Engineering Graduate (ideally Mechanical but some Electrical skills would be useful).
Detailed technical understanding of theoretical and practical mechanical engineering, preferably fluid mechanics and/or heat pumps and solar thermal systems
Excellent understanding of applied mathematics
Excellent ICT skills, ideally some understanding of programming in relation to engineering and a 3d drawing package

POSITION SUMMARY

Under supervision of the School Manager and Dean of School, the Executive Assistant is responsible for providing essential support through diary management, managing correspondence and documentation, drafting letters and standard communications; ensuring that correspondence and presentations are of a high standard; and assisting the Dean of School to ensure that actions arising from correspondence and meetings are completed in a timely and appropriate manner.

The Executive Assistant also provides support to designated members of the College and School Executive leadership teams, as well as the Industry School Advisory Board members upon request. The incumbent will contribute to other tasks that also include local/national/international teleconference and meeting coordination, committee servicing and minute taking, event organisation, travel bookings as well as responding to email and phone enquiries for the Dean of School.

The nature of the position requires regular contact with different sectors within the University and is the first point of contact for people wishing to communicate with the Dean of School. It also requires interactions with external agencies, corporations, government officials and staff in other education institutions, as well as broadly across the university globally.

Key Accountabilities

• Provide professional support services, including:

a) diary management which encompasses all arrangements associated with organising internal and external meetings for the DoS and work diary and travel arrangements domestically and internationally;

b) preparing/drafting and/or responding to correspondence through emails, letters, memos, reports and presentation materials including routine correspondence, speech notes;

c) managing all incoming and outgoing correspondence, using the TRIM or other management systems, and;

d) preparing/organising briefing material relating to the DoS’ appointments and meetings, including supporting the preparation and production of meeting papers.

• Assist the School Manager, School of Communication & Design in managing the operations of the Office of SCD, including collaborating with the Academic Administrative Officers for invoicing and reimbursements, correspondence, meetings, managing corporate seal signings, keep records of all sealed documents, and other administrative tasks as required.
• Assist in preparing for events involving the DoS such as College and School Executive meetings, Town Halls, Industry Functions, exhibitions and showcases Executive planning sessions and other School-focused events, including catering, speech notes, presentation slides and briefing papers.
• Coordinate travel, itineraries, etc., for senior executive visitors as required, including arrangement of itinerary and logistics.
• Support HR administration activities including recruitment and onboarding activities including assisting in organising meetings as part
• Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders (Senior Executives, Executive Dean, Industry Advisory Board, etc.) appropriately to deliver support to the Office of SCD.
• Manage and track correspondence and documentation for the DoS and Office of SCD ensuring that actions arising from correspondence and meetings to be completed in a timely and appropriate manner; use judgement to determine level of urgency, ensure the DoS or other relevant senior staff are made aware of matters that require their action. Follow up as required.
• Collaborate with other Executive Assistants to members of the Vietnam Senior Leadership Team and Academic Administrative Executive Officers in the School, including providing mentoring and advice when requested. Provide back up support for the other areas in the Office of SCD when necessary.
• Undertake other duties as directed and required.

Key Selection Criteria

• Tertiary qualifications in relevant fields. Relevant post graduate qualification is desired.
• Executive support experience in excess of 5 years to CEO/Senior Executive roles is preferred.
• Experience in providing high-level secretarial and administrative support in a university environment or similar large and complex organisation and covering diary and travel management, correspondence, action management, document development and information management.
• Demonstrated high level cross-cultural and communication skills, in both written and spoken English and Vietnamese.
• Well-developed organisational, interpersonal and negotiation skills and, the proven ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of management, staff and external parties on complex, sensitive and confidential issues, including the ability to draft correspondence of a high standard to internal and external stakeholders.
• Well-developed problem-solving skills, with the ability to take the initiative in identifying and pursuing opportunities to improve existing practices and services.
• Ability to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with a wide range of groups, both internal and external to the University.
• Demonstrated superior knowledge and experience in using computer software such as Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a demanding environment.

The Role

About the role

  • Unified Communications and Managed Voice (Cisco)
  • Network monitoring systems (SNMP, Syslog, NCM, PRTG)
  • Python / PowerShell scripting
  • Microsoft Office Suite including Visio
• Certifications:
  • Cisco CCNP – Routing & Switching is required
  • CCIE is a strong asset
  • Fortinet NSE4 is required
  • Fortinet NSE7 is a strong asset
• Highly motivated and proactive
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong time management and organisation skills
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of team

Graphic Designer / Marketing Executive

Industry: Charity/Marine

Location: Cowes

Hours: 35-40 hours per week ( flexible)

Days: Monday - Friday

Duration: approx. 3 months

Duties:

Creative lead on design concepts for digital and print marketing,
Update and maintain marketing schedules
In-house videographer for internal and external videos, on and off site.
Update and maintain image and video libraries including permissions,
Maintain equipment,
Source and create content to share on social media channels, newsletters, case studies,
Contribute to delivery and evaluation of targeted social media campaigns,
Update web content and liaise with agencies,
Organise logistics for external events,

Experience:

Must have previous marketing experience in a similar role,
Must be a competent user of the Adobe Creative Suite, After Effects, Filmora and Canva with an understanding of WordPress or similar,
Must be able to interpret briefs, work to brand guidelines and manage projects to deadlines,
Must be able to work well on own initiative as well as part of a team, will excellent communication skills.

Salary: £13.50 per hour worked
