The organisation are looking for a Purchase Ledger Team Leader to join them on a 3-month contract basis.
You will be managing a small knit team, duties will include:
* Lead and manage a team of Accounts Payable Officers in the processing and payment of supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all relevant policies and procedures. * Oversee the daily operations of the Accounts Payable department, including team management, workload prioritisation, and process improvement. * Ensure the timely and accurate processing of all supplier invoices, in accordance with departmental procedures. * Monthly reconciliation of supplier statements. * Supervise the weekly payment run process, ensuring all payments are made on time and in accordance with contractual terms. * Liaise with internal stakeholders, such as Budget Holders and Procurement, to resolve invoice queries and ensure smooth payment processing. * Manage email, telephone and postal contact with suppliers and budget owners, to resolve queries and ensure smooth transaction processing. * Assisting with month end process and adhering to deadlines.


What you\'ll need to succeed


Looking for an individual who is experienced in managing a team of purchase ledger clerks. You will be used to working towards deadlines and motivating a small-knit team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are key as you will be liaising extensively with external suppliers and various internal Divisional stakeholders. Experience with Sage200/Sage50 purchase ledger systems. Previous experience in an Accounts Payable role, with supervisory responsibilities. AAT or other professional accounting qualification is desirable but not essential.

Your new role
The key purpose of this role is to oversee the management of key contracts, strategic sourcing and business as usual procurement activities for the assigned Directorate with a view to maximising value for money for the organisation. • Control and ensure the ongoing improvement in commercial terms for the company and deliverable outputs across the supply chain.
• Evaluate and advise scope for new and improved contracts, and the development of internal processes, systems and management procedures.
• Work with the key contract stakeholders and suppliers to develop a focussed set of KPI's for the performance of the contract.
• Assist in the direction of supply chain performance through ongoing reviews of contract KPI's.
• Participate in periodic Contract/Performance Reviews for your Contracts.
• Create and own Business Plans for strategic sourcing/tendering opportunities, where appropriate, for contracts due to expire and areas of high spending which are not currently captured under a contract.
• Assist in enhancing and implementing robust purchasing policies and procedures.
• Continued supplier rationalisation and assisting in developing new and existing supply chain relationships.
• Continue to develop and manage the use of group Contract terms and condition templates.
• Some travel within the UK will be expected as part of the role (mainly Scotland).

What you'll need to succeed
Educated to degree level in a related field or equivalent. Ideally Chartered or working/willing to work towards being a chartered member of CIPS. An excellent team player who excels in developing relationships with critical stakeholders.

Key skills and qualifications
Experience of the end-to-end tendering process, managing commercial contracts in a public sector (ideally Utility Contracts Regulations) environment is essential. Highly articulate and analytical and proficient with IT skills, including MS-Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Desirable to have relevant qualifications/experience in Legal Contracts Management.

Your new role
Exciting opportunity to take control across a range of indirect categories
You will be working across a range of spend categories, including FM, catering, Capex, and construction, ensuring effective procurement and delivery of value for money to the business. You will work with key business stakeholders to identify and run sourcing projects, negotiate with suppliers, manage contract renewals and drive supplier performance to deliver agreed targets.
You will lead end to end supplier engagement and sourcing activities, from definition of business requirements, sourcing, tender analysis, negotiation, performance monitoring and ongoing procurement life cycle management.


What you'll need to succeed
Prior experience of working in a procurement role for c3-5 years
Track record of delivery across a range of indirect spend categories
Involvement in running end to end tender processes
Ideally part qualified CIPS / working towards MCIPS
