Drum Teacher
(Singapore - NORTHEAST)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Drum Teacher to join our educational institution. As a Drum Teacher, you will be responsible for instructing students of various skill levels and ages in the art of playing the drums. Your role involves designing, planning and delivering drum lessons, providing hands-on instruction, assessing student progress, and fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.
Keys Responsibilities:
1. Drum Instruction:
· Develop and implement drum lesson plans tailored to the needs and skill levels of individual students.
· Teach students fundamental drumming techniques, including hand and foot coordination, rhythm, timing, and dynamics.
· Instruct students in various drumming styles, such as rock, jazz, funk, and Latin rhythms.
· Introduce students to drum notation and music theory as it pertains to drumming.
2. Skill Assessment:
· Evaluate the progress of students through regular assessments, assignments, and performance evaluations.
· Provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve their drumming skills.
· Adjust lesson plans and teaching methods to address the specific strengths and weaknesses of each student.
· Prepare students for drum graded exam and monitor their progression
3. Music Repertoire:
· Assist students in selecting appropriate music pieces and drumming exercises to practice.
· Teach students to play songs and drum parts from various genres and eras.
· Encourage creativity and improvisation within drumming.
· Organize and prepare for performances, recitals and competition.
4. Equipment Maintenance:
· Teach students proper drum kit setup, maintenance, and tuning techniques.
· Ensure that studio or classroom drum kits and equipment are well-maintained and in good working condition.
5. Pedagogical Skills:
· Stay updated on the latest teaching techniques and resources in drum instruction.
· Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and preferences.
6. Communication:
· Maintain regular communication with students and their parents or guardians regarding lesson schedules, progress, and any necessary updates.
· Address questions, concerns, and feedback from students and their parents or guardian in a professional and timely manner.
7. Record Keeping:
· Maintain accurate records of student attendance, lesson plans, and progress reports.
8. Studio Management: (if applicable)
· Manage scheduling, billing, and administrative tasks related to teaching services.
Qualifications:
· May hold relevant certifications or degrees in music education or related fields. (or equivalent experience).
· Proficiency in drumming and a deep understanding of drumming techniques and styles.
· Strong musical knowledge, including drum notation and music theory.
· Previous teaching experience, especially in one-on-one or group settings.
· Patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to motivate and inspire students.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage and connect with students of all ages.
· Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit the needs of individual students.
· Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for teaching.
· Ability to work collaboratively within a creative and dynamic team.
· Flexibility in adapting teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
· In addition to drum, able to teach other instruments Guitar, Ukulele and Bass Guitar are welcome too.
· Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends, based on class schedules.(part-time role)

· At least 2 years of experience in teaching music in Studio environment.

· Familiar with ABRSM and Trinity materials and active to keep up to date the latest requirements and incorporate them into lesson planning.
· Able to work with all ages from the very young to senior.
· Must be self-driven, energetic, resourceful, creative, and possess strong passion to inspire.
· Confident & cheerful with positive working attitude
· Passionate in music and teaching

· Plan and deliver engaging and structured violin/piano lessons to students, taking into account their age, skill level, exam requirements and individual goals.
