JOB SUMMARY
The Billing Account Analyst is responsible for resolving variance/denials using critical thinking, analytical skills, and appropriate decision making to resolve accounts. The Billing Account Analyst applies pertinent Marshfield Clinic Health System policies, protocols, and processes in problem solving but has the ability to respond to unique cases in which clear policy and procedures are not always established. Purpose of the Role
We are looking to hire a highly innovative, organised, and flexible team member to join our successful Managed Accounts Middle Office team in New York with a specific focus on assisting the team in implementing solutions relating to Profit & loss (PnL) analysis and client reporting. We’re building out financial systems to support every new business line and product, so our Accounting team gets a granular view and understanding of how a business is crafted from the ground up. You'll spend time on the following:
Working closely with the Treasury, Tax and Statutory Reporting teams to understand accounting implications of terms and conditions of intercompany arrangements, along with other significant intra-entity transactions and global initiatives across the Company.
Supporting intercompany accounting transformation projects, including automation and process improvement.
Proactively communicating with business partners in US and EMEA to resolve intercompany variances, reconcile any outstanding amounts on a timely basis and provide necessary support for local reporting purposes.
Facilitating key month-end close responsibilities accurately and on a timely basis including preparation of monthly and quarterly intercompany invoice recharges, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analyses.
Liaising with Corporate Tax to ensure annual recharges are correctly accounted for across entities globally in accordance with the Groupon Transfer Pricing framework.
Coordinating with the Shared Service Centers to process intercompany invoices including receiving and posting invoices to the ledger and intercompany settlements.
Ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies.
We're excited about you if you have/are:
3+ years accounting experience at a multinational company, public accounting experience is a plus
ACA or ACCA preferred
Knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP is a plus
Experience working with transfer pricing arrangements and foreign currency translation on intercompany transactions
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders
Excellent numeracy and analytical skills, proficient at using Microsoft Excel
Self-starter, able to resolve issues with own initiative
Positive mindset with a drive to continually improve and challenge existing processes
Systems savvy; experience with NetSuite, Anaplan and Alteryx is a plus
Fluency in English (both written and oral) is essential, proficiency in any additional European languages is a plus

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Accounting:
Reconcile & analyze accounts in a timely manner to ensure accuracy. Document such analyses in a concise and clear manner
Prepare and post journal entries to record revenue from ancillary systems
Partner with Advancement Operations team to reconcile and record incoming miscellaneous revenue accurately in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Assist with industry specific compliance data reporting requests
Review journal entries prepared by other department personnel for accuracy and compliance with policies and procedures
Coordinate miscellaneous invoicing and analyze related receivables balances. Support colleagues across the college with invoicing and billing tasks.
Analyze accounting processes and evaluate for continuous improvement. Timely document those activities

Help with preparation of financial statements
Grants Management & Investment Accounting:
Cross train with the director of administrative financial services to provide coverage and backup of Grants Management and Endowment Accounting tasks, which may include:
Research issues, prepare invoices/billing, and collect funds for the support of restricted fund expenditures
Prepare or assist in the preparation of fiscal reports for sponsored programs and ensure timely submission thereof
Record monthly investment portfolio results for Colby’s endowment valued over $1.1 billion and encompassing over 1,500 gift funds
Create, review, and adjust restricted gifts in Workday
Record activity and prepare reporting for Trusts and Annuities
Compile year-end reports, work papers, and analyses necessary for the independent auditors to complete the annual audit
Tax Preparation:
Primary preparer of sales tax returns; assist associate controller, director of administrative financial services, and controller with deliverables for 990 and 990T
Perform additional duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education and experience
Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in a similar role
Relative work experience in higher education or comparably sized accounting operation in a mid-large size organization preferred
CPA preferred
Enthusiasm for building process, structure, and documentation around the annual and interim financial reporting processes
Expertise with invoicing and receivables
Experience with accounting information and ERP systems required; Workday experience preferred; Workday grant and endowment accounting experience a big plus
