Practicing at a Highly Advanced level in a specialism within the directorate, our directorate lead role balances leadership and clinical practice to deliver compassionate excellence. Reporting to the Divisional Lead Pharmacist, they maintain a key relationship between their clinical directorate and the pharmacy directorate to ensure good medicine management and the delivery of patient focussed medicines optimisation. The Directorate Lead Pharmacists act as role models in terms of Trust values and behaviours as well as clinical expertise. The post-holder will lead, develop, deliver, evaluate and be responsible for delivering a comprehensive pharmacy service and medicines optimisation advice to the directorate. The T&O directorate includes Trauma (JR site), Orthopaedics (Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre - NOC site) and Rheumatology (NOC site) and the role includes line management an expanding team of pharmacists responsible for day to day clinical cover for these areas. The postholder will provide operational oversight to pharmacy services on the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre site, and across the T&O directorate as a whole. The post holders role within these specialities includes to: 1. Work collaboratively with the highly advanced pharmacist for rheumatology to optimise service within available resource. 2. Work collaboratively with the highly advanced pharmacist for specialist surgery and ophthalmology to support pharmacy service provision to trauma areas on JR site, providing in person support to junior staff working on trauma wards at the JR at least one day per fortnight. 3. Actively promote pharmacy services and service need within the trauma and orthopaedics directorate. 4. Ensure pharmacy services are developed and expanded to meet the changing needs of the patient cohort under the care of the T&O directorate, and on the NOC site. Main Tasks and Responsibilities Direct Patient Care Deliver compassionate excellence via a patient focused clinical pharmacy service, in accordance with national medicines optimisation principles and local clinical pharmacy procedures. Analyse prescriptions, alongside technical resources, patient records and information from patient consults to form an opinion on the most appropriate course of action. Accurately and sensitively communicate medicines related information to a variety of healthcare professionals and patients including those with language difficulties, physical or mental disabilities, in a way that facilitates shared decision making. Optimise transfer of patient care, though timely completion of medicines reconciliation and communication with GPs and community pharmacy teams. Participate in and promote antimicrobial stewardship, medicines safety, and medicines effectiveness initiatives. Support others with highly specialised advice and guidance on patient management in areas where evidence base is lacking or opinions are conflicting. Demonstrate an advanced level of clinical reasoning and judement. Train to become a NMP and when registered with the GPhC and the OUH, prescribe within the Trusts policy for Non-medical Prescribing. Within your own area of specialism independently manage patients, this may be via case referrals, outpatient or ambulatory review, or as part of a multidisciplinary ward round or MDT meeting. Support medicines optimisation for patients within the specialism across a whole system e.g. primary to secondary care within the ICB, or across a wider geography where teriary services are provided. Support OUH dispensaries, and liaise with external agencies (Such as aseptic production services or homecare providers) to ensure safe, timely and appropriate supply of medications to patients. Take responsibility for the assessment of financial and clinical risk of use of unlicensed medicines, balancing this with the clinical situation posed. Supporting Professional Activities Leadership and Management Act as a role model for pharmacy within the Trust, demonstrating the GPhC Standards for Pharmacy Professionals and our Trust values. Consider the environmental impact of changes, and work to reduce the carbon footprint from medicines use within the directorate. Provide specialised professional and technical education at a professional, under-graduate, or postgraduate level and at a level that patient/carers can understand in both inpatient and outpatient clinical environments across the primary and secondary care settings. As the Programme Director for the UEC Recovery Plan, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team responsible for the leadership, planning and overseeing delivery of the UEC Recovery Plan, working collaboratively with DHSC and wider Government, and NHS stakeholders across strategy, transformation, operations, and performance teams.

The Asia Pacific (AP) Precision Medicine Lead will have responsibility for developing and executing the Precision Medicine Strategic plans for Medical Affairs (MAF) across all disease areas in the Asia Pacific Pharmaceutical Organisation. This role will require working in close collaboration with key cross-functional stakeholders across the regional, local and global organization.

The AP Precision Medicine Lead will lead Medical Affairs activities in support of companion and complementary diagnostics (CDx) for products within J&J’s targeted therapies pipeline across Therapeutic Areas (TAs) and in all stages of development and commercialization within the Asia Pacific region.

The successful candidate should have experiences and expertise in Precision Medicine and ideally have extensive pharmaceutical or diagnostic medical expertise, with experience in one or more TA’s of interest, including (but not limited to) Lung Cancer and Oncology, Retina, Neurosciences (NS) and Immunology. This role requires strong leadership with excellent communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to translate the Precision Medicine & Diagnostic Medical strategy into execution for our targeted therapies pipeline.

QUALIFICATIONS

General Responsibilities Provide strong inspirational leadership to the Hospice Medical team, ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance across the organisation. As a member of the Executive Management Team, influence the strategic direction of the organisation and work with colleagues to ensure the five-year strategy is delivered. Work closely with the Director of Clinical Services on the strategic direction of patient care and KPIs to measure success. Effectively lead on the co-ordination and strategic development of all Medical services ensuring they are fit for purpose. Ensure all Hospice services and practice is developed with a focus on quality and a person-centred approach. Act as Responsible Officer Act as Safeguarding Lead Act as prescribing lead Lead on digital transformation in all Medical areas. Lead in the development of processes designed to capture evidence of quality monitoring and improvements in practice. Represent the Hospice, concerning Medical issues, at strategic level meetings both internally and externally, establishing links with external agencies. Prepare an annual plan, in relation to all Hospice Medical services, which will support the five-year strategy and Trustees Report. Agree and work within budgets agreed by the Board of Trustees. Report quarterly to the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees on progress against the organisation's strategy. Attend national, regional and local information sessions and conferences as agreed with the Chief Executive, regarding hospice initiatives and Government guidance, relaying the information back through the Hospices sub-committee and management structure. Maintain effective and high-level communication with the Chief Executive and Executive Management Team concerning medical matters and organisational issues. Work alongside Hospice teams in the production of required reports, both internal and external, relating to quality, patient and family experience and compliance with legislation. Provide advice to the Chief Executive on all Medical matters, changes in practice, law or regulation. Ensure the Hospice can demonstrate compliance with all current legislation Ensure the Hospice can demonstrate compliance with all relevant Health & Safety requirements with particular emphasis on documentation and production/review of appropriate risk assessments. Support the Hospice management team in ensuring the hospice is compliant with all legislative and governance frameworks relating to the use of computer systems to include compliance with NHS Information Governance Framework. Chair the Clinical Standards Sub-Committee developing a work programme of audit and an annual report, ensuring quality control across all clinical areas. Formulate and execute the Hospices audit plan, ensuring all relevant practices and activity is subject to verification against documented policies and procedures, producing reports following the Hospice Governance process. Lead and develop the coordination and delivery of the Hospices mandatory training programme. Work closely with the Clinical Director on clinical development, clinical governance, risk, quality, and audit. Work closely with the Chief Executive in reviewing and agreeing contracts/service level agreements with Commissioners. Report complaints, and investigate findings within Medical practice to the Chief Executive. Work with relevant colleagues within appropriate sub-groups to review and develop Hospice policies and procedures. To read, understand, and comply with all Hospice policies and procedures. Participate in the annual appraisal process. To positively promote, represent and support the Hospice, ensuring our values are maintained at all times. To maintain strict confidentiality in all matters relating to the Hospice, its business, patients, staff and others. Ensure excellent communication is maintained within and external to the Hospice. Deputise for the CEO where appropriate. Management Provide direct line-management support to all Hospice Doctors and trainees. Support the Medical Team to ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet the needs of patients. Support the Director of Clinical Services to facilitate the professional development of the clinical team by encouraging successful and efficient multi-disciplinary working. Manage and monitor staff performance, absence and practice addressing any issues in accordance with hospice HR policies, procedures and within codes of professional practice. Support the Management team to train and develop staff in clinical and corporate audit relevant to their role, focussing on a team approach and encouraging ownership of compliance issues throughout the organisation. Undertake internal appraisals for all Hospice Doctors and support their professional development. Participate in the current out-of-hours system or any on-call rota established. Education To support the development, co-ordination and presentation of education, training and development opportunities for staff. Identify, through annual performance and appraisal, areas for staff development. Ensure effective induction programmes for all staff. Act as the link and representative of the Hospice for education providers and Commissioners. Attend all mandatory training. Attend any training or development required by the Hospice. Support Medical trainees. Please note the Medical Director is expected to undertake weekends as part of the Medical Team rota for which time off in lieu is given.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated senior doctor in training (above ST4 or equivalent) with an interest in leadership, management and quality improvement to join the Department of Acute Medicine, Whipps Cross University Hospital, as a chief registrar.


The chief registrar role provides senior trainees with 40-50% protected time to develop skills and confidence in leadership, management and quality improvement. Learning that chief registrars gain from the Royal College of Physicians’ (RCP’s) bespoke development programme will be put into practice in a supported environment that provides autonomy, flexibility and support to develop and support projects that address key local challenges and priorities. This may include service improvement, engagement and morale, education and training, workforce, and sustainability.

The chief registrar role is a leadership role for senior specialty trainees. The role provides 40-50% protected time to develop and implement local initiatives focusing on, for example, service improvement, engagement and morale, education and training, workforce and sustainability.

Chief registrars benefit from access to a bespoke taught development programme provided by the RCP, which runs from September 2024 to June 2025 and comprises five 2-day modules that chief registrars are expected to attend.

The chief registrar will ideally report to and be mentored by the medical director, a nominated deputy, or other senior clinical leader. The mentor role requires a minimum time commitment of monthly 1 hour meetings with the chief registrar, and this commitment should be taken into account when nominating a suitable mentor.

The chief registrar will also have a named educational supervisor for their clinical role, who may or may not be the same as their clinical supervisor.

There will be formal educational oversight of the role, with an induction, educational agreement, personal development plan and regular appraisals.

For NTN posts, the chief registrar role may be undertaken in programme or out of programme (training or experience), to be determined locally depending on local workforce requirements and individual training needs and preferences.

Any necessary extension to certificate of completion of training (CCT) date is also negotiated and approved locally, with involvement of the Training Programme Director (TPD)/Head of School where appropriate.

Approval of the relevant Specialist Advisory Committee will be required for OOPT requests.

NTN trainees must discuss applications for chief registrar roles with their education supervisor and TPD in advance of applying. Permission to apply for the role must be obtained from the TPD.

The principle requirement of the GMC is that the chief registrar role should be undertaken at a site approved by the GMC for training in the applicants’ specialty. For LEDs, local discussion should occur with the Trust chief registrar lead and educational supervisor to ensure suitability for the programme.

Local assessment of prior experience to be at ST4 or above will be made within the Trust.
