What is the job role?Coventry City Council’s Adult Education Service is seeking to recruit a curriculum specialist who is highly skilled, experienced, and passionate about supporting the Senior Lead with overall leadership and management to implement the Service’s strategic vision.
The Adult Education Service is positioned in the Skills, Employment & Adult Education team within the Council’s Regeneration and Economy Directorate. The strategic intent of the service is to maximise the employability of adults, so they can progress into work, further learning/training, or engage in voluntary, social and community activities.
As such, you will play a key role in designing and developing an inclusive adult learning provision that considers the diversity of our city and the 31% of citizens who are from minority ethnic backgrounds who might be learners in Adult Education within Coventry. The provision will also support the aims of the One Coventry Plan and meet the needs of our diverse local communities and employers, to make an active contribution to the local economy.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?You will ensure the service operates efficiently, delivering value for money and high levels of customer satisfaction, focusing on the overall planning and management of the Life Skills curriculum, and service-wide functions relating to business, quality, information systems and administration resource.
You will have successful experience of planning, leading, and managing adult learning in community settings; identifying curriculum areas influenced by colonialism, challenging where necessary, to reduce bias and limitations for the learner; developing strategies, policies, procedures and income generation; and substantial knowledge of Education & Skills Funding Agency/West Midlands Combined Authority funding streams.
You will have the ability to lead and manage a range of curriculum areas within different funding methodologies; and the ability to lead the Service’s marketing and communications strategy.
