In your new role you will: Act as a clinical expert in your service area. Be responsible for maintaining clinical standards. Identify the individual care needs of allocated service users. Be responsible for maintaining clinical standards, and team systems under the direction of the team leader.

Clinical Act in a manner consistent with The Code NMC (2015) carrying out the role in accordance with locally agreed policies and procedures. Ensure familiarity with risk issues pertaining to confidentiality of participant and research related documentation (Data protection Act, 1994, Caldicott 1999, GDPR Regulation 2018) Continuously evaluate the quality of care given, regularly reassessing the needs of the research patients and effect changes as required in consultation with the participant, the research teams and the multidisciplinary team. Ensure patient care is delivered according to Christie Foundation Trust policies and procedures. Support and assist the Unit Manager in the development of core practice standards and contribute to clinical audit to maintain and improve clinical and research practice. Ensure clear accurate records to support and record all research activity within the facility Promote and collaborate in developing good working relationships, maintaining good communication systems with teams both within and outside the department to ensure that the patients have an effective and efficient research experience. Be responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work, including management of patients in your care Seek opportunities to develop own research skills adapting to any changes in the research requirements of new studies Ensure safeguarding principles and policies are adhered to Maintain relevant professional registration and revalidation requirements as per NMC requirements. Attend clinical trial related meetings as required Leadership & Management: Develop and maintain organisational and managerial skills relevant to the role by co-ordinating, delegating and supervising clinical research activity each day. The post holder will recognise and understand the delegation of responsibility and accountability for patient care in the absence of the Unit Manager. Support the Unit Manager in day-to-day supervision of junior staff and students ensuring ongoing staff development. Act as a professional role model, through commitment to the integration into practise of Trust policies and procedures. Act as an advocate for staff, participants and their relatives at all times in line with the Christie Values Assist with the orientation and induction of new staff and act as a buddy to colleagues Attend and contribute to clinical team meetings when appropriate Ensure that working practices adhere to health and safety polices, and be responsible for reporting of any incidents Ensure planning and organisation of complex activities across a range of studies in collaboration with the research teams and the Multidisciplinary teams. Undertake management of staff members as requested by the Unit Manager Regularly liaise and report to Department Manager / Senior Nurse Unit on unit affairs and staff development. Training & Education: Take a lead role in the clinical and professional development of new nursing staff to the MCRF and act as mentor/preceptor to junior nurses encouraging a high level of motivation in all involved. Participate in the development and delivery of training and education for junior staff. Participate in Trust annual mandatory training. Act as a resource for investigators and staff using the facility Act as a resource for members of the multi-disciplinary team from Trusts and Universities

The post holder will act as deputy to the Unit sister/charge nurse. He/she will be required to: Act as the deputy to the Unit sister/charge nurse regularly taking charge of the Unit and ensuring that the standards and quality of care given to patients, together with the environment in which care is delivered, are maintained at a high standard. Be an effective leader and role model and will be expected to provide regular direct clinical care and use experience to support the implementation of both clinical and nonclinical governance. Work flexibly as a member of the Unit team and in support of the Unit Sister/Charge Nurse to ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated, and where necessary improved.

Here at Barts Heart Centre we have 10 cath labs that provide treatment for patients undergoing a variety of elective procedures, interventional, electrophysiology and TAVI. Our cardiac catheter labs also support our nationally recognised emergency heart attack, arrhythmia and structural pathways. We also provide specialist cardiology services for heart failure, endocarditis, grown up congenital heart and inherited cardiac conditions.

You will have an opportunity to rotate internally between Cardiology Intervention, Electrophysiology & Structural in order to develop a full range of skills and be supported with in house training.

We have created exciting opportunities for experienced Cath Lab nurses to develop clinically in advanced nursing practices such as Implantable Loop recorders Implantations and Nurse-Led Radial Access.

You will need significant experience in cardiology cath lab and be able to demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge. You will be expected to take an active role in helping us to continuously improve on our patient centred care.

Our cath lab is lucky enough to have their own dedicated Education Sister who supports all staff in their development and works closely with new starters.
