There is a requirement to lift while carrying out duties with materials management, with a frequent requirement to exert moderate physical effort whilst unloading and loading delivery trollies, cages and pallets. Undertaking all statutory and mandatory training is essential.

Stock Control To be part of the team responsible for placing orders, receiving, checking, storage and distribution of stock within the Theatre Unit. To place orders for medical instruments. To ensure good stock rotation ensuring that they are in date. To be part of the team responsible for the delivery and secure storage of specific implants for named patients on designated operation dates. To be part of the team responsible for co-ordination of location and delivery of high-cost theatre consumables. To ensure that storage areas are kept clean and tidy and that damp dusting and discarding of rubbish are carried out. To ensure security of storage boxes and containers and their return to NHS Supplies and companies direct. To be part of the team responsible for undertaking and organising an annual audit of stock. To be part of clear understanding of clear pathway of consignment stocks, sale or return and hospital owned stocks. To ensure that stocks are stored and labelled accordingly. To comply with governance and actions on Safety Alerts and Field Safety Notice on material stocks and supplies. To ensure that the stores ordering catalogue is up to date. Communication To deal with telephone, bleep, verbal and written messages and mail and e-mail. Liaison with medical staff, suppliers, procurement officers, secretaries, ward and theatre staff, both in and out of own area. Act as a stores representative in daily safety huddles and update on any issues with stock Escalate any issues with stock supply to the relevant clinical lead nurse and support with alternatives. Training To undertake training as required to support this role, and to assist in training and educating staff in relation to stock management. Clerical/Administration Completion of stock and non-stock requisitions and authorisation of agreed items. Investigation of late and/or incorrect orders. Filing documentation relating to orders under the correct subjective codes/cost centre and in the appropriate files. Maintaining a comprehensive filing system and records. Providing information for staff notice board. Ensuring diary appointments are up-to-date and dealing with mail. Demonstrating good working knowledge of NEP-ORACLE and NHS Logistics electronic requisition systems. To undertake the necessary update training for computerised requisitioning system as required by the Trust Procurement Dept. Dealing with queries. Problem solving. Escalation process for back orders, out of stock and looking for alternative of consumables. General To ensure Health and Safety measures are carried out in accordance with Trust policies. To support with any health and safety risk / COSHH assessments associated with products To support other colleagues during induction period. To attend regular Team meetings. To attend all mandatory and statutory training and participate in Trust appraisal process. To undertake any other duties which are within the scope of the post and requested by your team leader or theatre manager.
