Job Summary & Responsibilities
Global Compliance prevents, detects and mitigates compliance, regulatory and reputational risk across the firm and helps to strengthen the firm's culture of compliance. Compliance accomplishes these through the firm's enterprise-wide compliance risk management program. As an independent control function and part of the firm's second line of defense, Compliance assesses the firm's compliance, regulatory and reputational risk; monitors for compliance with new or amended laws, rules and regulations; designs and implements controls, policies, procedures and training; conducts independent testing; investigates, surveils and monitors for compliance risks and breaches; and leads the firm's responses to regulatory examinations, audits and inquiries.
Financial Crime Compliance ("FCC") is part of the firm's Global Compliance Division and is responsible for coordinating the firmwide anti-financial crime program. The team designs, develops, implements and oversees a wide range of systems and controls designed to prevent and detect money laundering, terrorist financing, government sanctions violations, fraud, corruption and other misconduct. Within FCC, the Conduct and Integrity (“C&I”) team is responsible for the firm’s Business Integrity, Insider Threat and Conduct Risk Programs.
The successful candidate will engage in the FCC C&I program across Asia-Pacific, promoting the highest standards of employee conduct and business integrity in order to support the regional and firmwide anti-financial crime program.

What You’ll Be Doing
The Fixed Income Compliance Officer is responsible for directing important advisory, training, surveillance and analytical functions to support CIBC’s US Compliance program. The Fixed Income Compliance Officer is primarily responsible for 1) advising CIBC’s Global Markets businesses, including, but not limited to, US Treasuries, Corporate Bonds, SSAs, EM, CMBS, ABS, CLOs, Structured Products, Securitization and DCM on SEC and FINRA rule requirements; 2) collaborating with Front Office and Technology personnel on developing and implementing solutions to address regulatory requirements; 3) identifying and addressing the regulatory aspects of new U.S. and cross-border business initiatives; 4) assisting with regulatory exams and audits; 5) developing and conducting training on specific rules and regulations which affect US Global Markets daily business activities; and 6) monitoring sales and trading activities to ensure compliance with CIBC policies and regulatory requirements.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $180,000 - $225,000 for the New York, New York market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component. CIBC offers a full range of benefits and programs to meet our employee’s needs; including Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Life Insurance, Disability, and Other Insurance Plans, Paid Time Off (including Sick Leave, Parental Leave, and Vacation), Holidays, and 401(k), in addition to other special perks reserved for our team members.
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. Additional total compensation and benefits details will be provided during the hiring process.
