Job Description
The UK & Ireland MD will be responsible for bringing our Animal Health (AH) products and Technology solutions to our customers in the UK and Ireland through our teams and accelerating the growth of our business in these markets. This position requires strategic thinking to assess and develop plans related to various opportunities in-line with the regional AH Strategic priorities. The leader will play a critical role in effectively developing future leaders with demonstrated ability to retain talents, to energize and to inspire others to higher levels of effort and performance while building a strong succession pipeline for the future.
This role will have direct commercial impact through managing the P&L, forecasting and leadership responsibilities. S/he will develop and execute successful short and long-term commercial strategies, financial plans, and budgets and will ensure maximum performance of sales volume, market share and profit. Of critical importance to the successful execution of this role is the ability to partner with the Global Species Leaders as well as establishing and maintaining regular communications and collaboration with key functional leaders such as Research & Development, Finance, Commercial Ops HR and Compliance to ensure achievement of financial and non-financial objectives.
The UK & Ireland MD role is part of the Europe, Russia, Africa and Middle East (EURAM) Regional Leadership Team and reports to the Regional SVP of EURAM, Animal Health. The Ireland GM reports into this role.

We will rely on you to:
Identify business opportunities from client portfolio and your own network
Provide a service compliant with all procedures and Mercer Code of Professional Conduct and the FCA
Participate in appropriate internal forums
Maintain required industry and technical knowledge
Work with support team assigned to ensure the delivery of services to each client in line with Mercer standards
Compliance with Mercer and MMB systems
Manage client projects to successful conclusion
Compliance with sales process and tools
Where a Key Account is owned by a consultant, the consultant must adhere to all the protocols and goals as set out for the Key Accounts team
Retain and develop profitable client portfolio to include new clients/service lines
Build relationships with key decision makers
Win new mandates
Take overall responsibility for the delivery to the client of the agreed services
Consult with client to agree and document needs and objectives and ensure delivery of these objectives
Hold periodic review meetings with client
Client action planning in conjunction with client team
Manage insurer meetings with clients
Ensure all clients have compliant engagement documentation, in line with agreed process
Agree and monitor client fee and service specifications to ensure continued profitability
Own personal and client financial targets
Maintain technical knowledge to the required standard
Work with client team to deliver a profitable seamless service
What you need to have:
Financial and Commercial acumen (including fee negotiation skills)
Related business experience
Achievement orientated
Consulting and relationship management skills
Technical, product and process knowledge
In depth Healthcare and Group Risk knowledge is essential
Inter-personal, communication and time management skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

As our Operations Consultant on the Employee Health & Benefits team, you’ll support the organizational goals by providing technology, data analysis & systems training and support to improve efficiency & effectiveness. The Operations Consultant, Employee Health & Benefits maximizes the productivity and ease-of-use of the company’s workflow system and tools and aids in standardizing company workflows and procedures, including monitoring operational processes for the different business locations and with acquisitions. Working with a wide range of stakeholders, this role consults with regional colleagues to provide technical expertise on internal and client tools and oversees administration and acts as the primary point of contact for colleagues in need of assistance with internal and external EH&B systems and tools. Successful candidates will need the ability to operate under pressure, provide detailed responses with quick turnaround times, demonstrate excellent organization skills, and juggle competing tasks in a fast-paced environment with impeccable follow through. Our Operations Consultant acts as a change agent for our organization and will need to understand the principles of identified operational technology systems, the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of operational function.
