The purpose of the post is: Security Officers are responsible for the overall safety and security of the College. The security team plays a critical role in the College’s culture and climate. A calm, structured, and positive learning environment is top priority for the College, the Student Security Assistant is actively involved in the progressive discipline system and provides the first line of defence to defuse and de-escalate student misconduct and/or serious incidents. The post holder should have extensive experience of working in access control/security or working with young adults in a supervisory role in youth/social/sport work. The post holder will be working on a shift system operating Monday to Friday: 08.00 – 22:00, during college terms. Outside term-time, hours are limited to day time. Hours may change from week to week. The post-holder will be expected to take all leave outside college term-time except in an emergency or exceptionally by agreement with their manager.

This program provides substantive, developmental work assignments that prepare incumbents for placement in a target position in one of the occupational series covered by the Legal and Kindred Occupational Group.

The incumbent will be given orientation to SSA and basic orientation in the functions and operations of the organization. Some of the of the duties may include:

Assisting permanent professional or technical staff in their regular assignments; subordinate technical work, or related clerical work; resolving recurring problems; searching files; contacting others for information or compiling reference materials to complete assignments.

Starting at $33,693 Per Year (GS 4-5)

• Receives, examines and reviews all original legal documents such as probates, patents, deeds, mortgages, leases and rights of way.
• Identifies omissions or errors and notifies originator.
• Maintains automated system for all legal documents received for recording by scanning and entering data for the recorded documents.
• Conducts research in identification by utilizing the automated system.
• Prepares files for transmittal to Office of Hearing and Appeals.
• Coordinates appeal cases with agency.
• Composes correspondence relating to defective documents or appeals.
• Responds to requests related to probate data.

Starting at $50,094 Per Year (GS 7)

• Receive, examine and review all original legal documents such as probates, patents and deeds.
• Identify omissions or errors and notifies originator.
• Maintain automated data system of all legal documents received for recording by scanning and entering data for the recorded documents.
• Conduct research in identification by utilizing the automated data system.
• Respond to requests related to death reports, identification of individuals in the automated data system.
• Prepare and review documents from BIA-INV's and Globals for accuracy to forward for certification and submission to the Agencies.

Starting at $40,440 Per Year (GS 5)

• Performs program support functions for the Agency office programs and activities. Serves as a technical lead for lower graded assistants and clerks and is responsible for ensuring continuity and uniformity of clerical procedures.
• Performs work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of data and statistical information in support of the Agency's program operation.
• Maintains automated system of program specific-data to track items such as progress reports, funding accomplishments, compliance strategies, etc.
• Coordinates the receipt and processing of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, refers requests to proper personnel and follows up with the status of the request.
• Tracks and monitors grants, service contracts, purchasing agreements with vendors and interagency cooperative agreements.
• Orders and purchases supplies and equipment for the Agency office and process supply transactions such as receipt, shipment, and/or adjustment documents.
• Maintains the Agency budget and serves as a liaison to the budget office. Review the Agency’s budget submissions for technical accuracy, completeness, and adequacy of funds.
