The client is a market-leading manufacturer of specialist equipment to a range of industry sectors including heavy engineering and aerospace.

Due to the specialist nature of the products the work is both interesting and varied and will include working on the design and creation of large scale fabrications and structures together with associated pipework and equipment.

Based in their offices in Burton on Trent, but with a requirement to travel to customers both in the UK and overseas as required, it will include the generation of engineering diagrams, for use on their equipment and will involve working on specific projects from conception to completion.

The main duties will include:

• 2D and 3D engineering design proposal drawings
• General Arrangement drawings
• Fabrication details drawings
• Pipework layouts and manufacturing drawings

The successful candidate must have a proven track record of working within a mechanical design environment, ideally on large plant or machinery or metal fabrications/structural steelwork. They must also be qualified to a minimum of HNC in a relevant discipline although a degree is preferred and have experience of using Inventor iLogic and both 2D and 3D CAD.

In addition to this experience, it is essential that applicants have been involved in the production of metal fabrication drawings and some, if not all of the following:-

About The Role
Due to our continued expansion throughout the UK, ID Systems are seeking to recruit a Engineering Design lead to join our rapidly growing teams in our Kingston House, Birstall office.
As the Engineering Design Lead you will be part of our Engineering Team. Responsible for scoping and detailed design through to implementation, ensuring compliance with client specifications and current regulatory standards.
The primary role of the post holder is to lead a team of process, mechanical and electrical engineers to deliver designs, documentation and assist with procurement for pump station / treatment systems etc. Interaction will be required with the client and local teams at site as well as predominantly in the office. Your new company
You will be working for a leading M&E contractor that has continued to grow into one of the largest M&E contractors in the UK. They work on a variety of different projects which include; commercial, industrial and high-end residential. They have a strong pipeline of work and are looking for the right people to join their team for this continued growth.Your new role

• Designing in conjunction with fire strategy reports, local building regulations & planning authority requirements.
• Attending Design team meetings.
• Carrying out site surveys of existing installations where applicable.
• Producing heating/cooling (thermal modelling) and ventilation load calculations using industry software
• Sizing and selection of AHUs, FCUs, extract fans, pumps, chillers, ASHP, boilers, plate heat exchangers etc
• Producing above ground drainage calculations and sizing of drainage systems
• Sizing and selection of domestic hot and cold-water equipment (heaters, storage tanks etc)
• Producing pipe and duct sizing calculations using industry software or other desktop spreadsheets
• Sizing and selection of firefighting sprinkler and pumping systems (preferred but not essential)
• Producing stage reports & presentations.
• Preparing Designers Risk Assessment and Mitigation Reports
• Detailing mechanical layouts & schematics for build.
• Meeting project delivery deadlines.
• Production of detailed design and survey reports.

What you'll need to succeed

• Extensive experience in the
  Mechanical Engineering building services for construction
• Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent
• Good knowledge of CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS &EN Irish, UK standards or ASHRAE.
• Working knowledge of design software such as Hevacomp, Carrier HAP, CyMap, IES/TAS required
• Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
• Strong communication skills

What you'll get in return
Salary of £40,000 to £65,000
