Working with department manager, the RN - Coordinator I provides leadership and clinical expertise on their respective shift and department. They are accountable for coordination of unit resources to ensure that staffing to census and acuity is appropriate both clinically and financially. Supervises and coordinates the activities of the diagnostic area maintaining proper patient flow and staff coverage at HSD (UH & HH locations). Assists in developing enforcing policies and procedures at HSD. Works with Director of Imaging HSD to hire, and evaluate staff for assigned areas at HSD. Receives direction or instruction on a general basis. Under the direction of the Director, HSD, the Supervisor HSD coordinates all HSD activities related to imaging. Additionally, this role functions as the primary expert in quality assurance and serves as liaison amongst medical imaging management, the department chair, and various staff technologists throughout the HSD imaging modalities. He/she communicates/coordinates workflow and provides education, training, and mentorship to staff as regular part of their duties. This role ensures that staff is properly mentored towards achieving quality images within a reasonable expectation from hire. He/she leads performance improvement, while continuously collaborating with interpreting physicians for imaging. He/she assists in developing and enforcing policies and procedures and works with other medical imaging leaders to hire, train, and evaluate both clinical and non-clinical staff. Will also help with staffing schedules if and when necessary at both locations. In conjunction with Director, HSD, System Director and Chair of Medical Imaging, he/she institutes corrective action as appropriate. Must maintain efficient and effective department operations while requiring compliance with all Joint Commission, state, federal, corporate radiation safety, and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols. Must possess critical thinking skills and be capable of assuming complete cross-departmental imaging authority and responsibility in the absence of the Director, Medical Imaging. Must strive to create and maintain great relationships with all facility stakeholders. This includes, but is not limited to, the efficient, effective procurement, utilization and stewardship of all technical, physical and human resources.
High school diploma or the equivalent and graduation from a radiology program required.
Must have two years of lead tech experience in diagnostic radiology and be certified as an ARRT or ACRT.
Verbal communication skills required to instruct and direct employees.
Written communication skills required to document employee performance issues.
Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds to assist employees.
Must maintain BCLS certification for continued employment.
